Losing three fingers: Victorious settlement for YASUDA case, Tobu Union, Aibiikei Local
On December 25, the court case on the compensation for damages of YASUDA Kimie, a member of the Tokyo Tobu Union Aibiikei Local who lost her three fingers in a labor accident, reached settlement out of court. The settlement was in favor of the union. It made clear that the company should give full consideration to the safety of its employees and that the company should pay settlement money on top of all the compensation and pension already paid or due to be paid from the Workers Accident Compensation, Employees Pension and National Pension Plans. The amount of the settlement money is not made public, but the plaintiff’s demand was 40 million Yen and she was content with the settlement. Her victory will give hope to all the victims of industrial accidents.(Kanno, Tokyo Tobu Union)

指3本切断の労災事故~アイビイケイの安田さんが勝利和解
東京東部労組・アイビイケイ支部安田組合員の労災損害賠償請求訴訟が12月27日、組合側の勝利的和解で解決いたしました。和解の概要としては、「会社は同様の労災事故が発生しないように従業員の安全管理に十分配慮するよう努力する」「被告は、原告(安田さん)に対し、労働者災害補償保険法、厚生年金保険法、及び国民年金法に基づく過去及び将来の保険給付金及び年金給付とは別に本件解決金を支払う義務があることを認める」というものです。金額部分は非公開ですが、原告安田さんの請求額約4千万円に対して、今回の和解では安田さんも納得のいく金額を解決金としてかちとることができました。この安田さんの勝利は、職場で労災事故に被災した労働者にも希望を与えるものです。(東部労組・菅野) ・東部労組ブログ *写真=裁判所前で(中央が安田さん)
