Victim’s mother makes 15-minute speech at collective bargaining on sexual assault at Toyoko Inn
“Why can you not think of the consequences of a woman working on the night shift and for 25 consecutive hours,” a mother of a sexually assaulted victim said at a collective bargaining session with Toyoko Inn and National Union of General Workers, Tokyo Tobu, on Dec. 5 in Tokyo. Her daughter joined the union after she was sexually assaulted by a hotel guest. “My daughter just started working before she fell victim to this assault,” the mother said in tears. “I feel like my daughter’s life was destroyed. Having only one worker at night also puts hotel guests in danger.” (By Suda, NUGW, Tokyo Tobu) See union blog. Photo: Victim, mother at a press conference at Labor Ministry.
