Let’s tackle the issue of workers’ exposure to radiation 180 gathered to network

The nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is not still under control and the recovery of the plant is only possible through the radiation of many workers. It is now widely known that nuclear plants cannot exist without the exposure of many workers to radiation. But this issue of exposure to radiation has not been tackled by labor unions or any other social movement. A preparatory committee for a National Network for the Concerns of Workers Exposed to Radiation was set up by various labor organizations and citizens’ groups to cope with the problem. On April 22, 180 participants gathered at Yoyogi Hachiman Hall in Tokyo to discuss the issue and exchange experiences.(Photo) The meeting was well attended by media people and concerned citizens. 被ばく労働問題に取り組もう～180名が集まり「交流討論集会」

東 電福島第一原発事故の現在も収束しない事故は、多数の現場作業員の被ばく労働によって、その作業が支えられている。また、原発事故への注目によって、労働 者の「被ばく」がなければ原発そのものが成り立たないことが広く明らかになった。しかし、現実の被ばく労働の問題について、労働組合にとどまらず、運動現 場での取り組みは十分とはいえない。そのような問題意識を共有し、被ばく労働問題に関わっていこうとするさまざまな労働団体・市民グループ・個人が集ま り、「被ばく労働を考えるネットワーク準備会」を立ち上げた。そして4月22日、東京・代々木八幡区民会館で「どう取り組むか 被ばく労働問題・交流討論集会」を開催、約180名が集まった（写真）。会場には、この問題に取り組む労働運動・市民運動関係者にとどまらず、多数のメ ディアや、関心を持つ人びとであふれた。（関西報道部ライター・木村ジョウ）
