Movement to establish No Nukes Fundamental Law kicks off

 

On August 22, a press conference to announce the setup of the “National Network to Establish the No Nukes Fundamental Law” took place at the Lower House Member Hall. Ten representatives of the Network, including OE Kenzaburo, KAWAI Hiroyuki and KAMATA Satoshi, were present there. The Network aims to table and pass the No Nukes Fundamental Law in the present Diet. One of the representatives, Kawai, told the reporters, “We were encouraged by rise of the citizens movement to formulate the No Nukes Fundamental Law. We want to secure the path to No Nukes by making it a policy of the nation.” He also expressed his enthusiasm to “make this Law the litmus-test issue for policy makers and defeat all candidates who oppose this Law in the next general election”. The Law states to “stop the operation of all nuclear power plants as early as possible by the year 2025”. (M)

 

「脱原発基本法」制定運動はじまる～市民運動の盛り上がりをカタチに！

8 月22日午前11時から、衆院議員会館で「脱原発法制定全国ネットワーク」設立の記者会見が行われた。会場には大江健三郎・河合弘之・鎌田慧など10人の 代表世話人が出席。メディアも50人以上が集まった。会は、政党・議員の協力をえて「脱原発基本法」の今国会での審議・可決をめざしている。河合世話人 （写真中央）は「市民運動の盛り上がりを受けて脱原発基本法の話が具体化した。デモの成果を固定化し、脱原発の道筋を確実にしたい。国の政策として脱原発 を決めたい」と語った。また「脱原発基本法は、議員一人ひとりに賛成か反対かを迫るリトマス紙。反対した議員は次の選挙で落とす運動をしたい」と意気込み を語った。脱原発法は、「2025年度までのできる限り早い時期に全原発を廃止する」としている。
