“Targeted Village” shown at the 2013 Labor Festival

On December 21, the 2013 Labor Festival was held at the Tamachi Transport Building Hall in Minato-ku, Tokyo. Participants hurried  to see the first movie, “Hyouteki no mura (The targeted village)”, depicting the Okinawan people’s struggle against US military bases. When the movie ended with singing and dancing of children, sobs were heard among the audience. It was a wonderful movie. ISA Shinji, a woodcraft worker from Okinawa who was victimized in a strategic lawsuit against public participation, came onstage and said, “Even if we lose the lawsuit, we can fight on. So retirees and people with money and time please come to Okinawa and see what’s going on there” The festival was attend by 220 people. 60 people went on to the socializing meeting, which turned into a huge cross movement exchange. (Y)
