Japan-Korea relationship recaptured after half a century

The meeting, “Renovating Japan-Korea Relationship: let’s connect with each other by settling the past on the occasion of 50th anniversary (1965-2015) of Japan-Republic of Korea Basic Relation Treaty,” was held at the Korea YMCA in Japan on June 20.

 The meeting featured film screening of the victims testimonials, report on the exclusion of the Korean schools from the tuition exemption and another special report by the Association to Protect the Monuments in Gunma.

 After screening the testimonials of Japan-Korea conflicts, a symposium was held to review Japan-Republic of Korea Basic Relation Treaty and the agreement between Japan and the Republic of Korea concerning the settlement of property and claims. Some 14 students visiting from South Korea participated in the youth forum.

 After the demonstration, a splendid concert featuring Pak Poe & SONGI was held. Two artists performed and responded more than enough to the organizer’s request to talk and sing the heart out of Koreans living in Japan. No one else but Pak Poe and SONGI could fascinate the audience to the point of tears. People chanted for the energetic performance and stood up to dance at the end. (OZAWA Kuniko)

「日韓条約50年 過去清算でつながろう！」集会開かれる～韓国学生14人も参加

 6 月20日、東京の在日本韓国ＹＭＣＡで「日韓つながり直し 1965⇒2015 日韓条約50年 過去清算でつながろう！」の集会がありました。午前10時半から被害者証言の映像、朝鮮学校無償化排除の問題と群馬の「記憶 反省 そして友好」の追悼碑を守る会の特別報告、午後は、日韓闘争の証言映像上映、シンポジウム「検証！日韓条約・請求権協定」、午後5時からデモを行い、会場 に戻って午後6時半から朴保＆ＳＯＮＧＩコンサートというすごい内容でした。韓国から14人の学生が来日し、9階の国際会議場ではユース・フォーラムが開 催されました。コンサートはとてもすばらしかったです。「在日の思いを語り、歌ってください」という主催者の要請に十分すぎるほどに応えていただきまし た。さすが朴保さん、ＳＯＮＧＩさん。お二人の熱演に、うっとりしたり、涙したり、叫んだり。最後はみな立ち上がって踊りました。 (尾澤　邦子)
