Rodojoho Symposium “Change society, change the labor movement”

 

On April 23^rd, a symposium to commemorate the monthly publication of Rodojoho “labor information” was held in Tokyo. Rodojoho, a forty year old labor journal, changed from a bimonthly to monthly publication this April, with a new colorful front page. The symposium’s title was “Change  society, change the labor movement”, reflecting the enthusiasm of the event. The chair, TOKAIRIN Satoshi, kicked off  the panel discussion with these challenging words, “Unions are a big fish in a little pond; they are only concerned with their companies. How can we organize a social movement, such as the Tent for the Jobless in the year end of 2008? How can we close the gap between citizens and the labor movement?” The panelists to answer these questions were all activists with power and insight: SUZUKI Tsuyoshi (Tokyo Managerial Workers Union),OTSUBAKI Yuko (Osaka Educational Amalgamated Union), TSUJITANI Takafumi (All Japan Water Workers’ Union), and MATSUMOTO Chie (Rodojoho). 「社会を変える、労働運動を変える」テーマに熱い討論 ～「労働情報」月刊化記念

4月23日午後、東京・文京区民センターで「労働情 報 月刊化記念 パネルディスカッ

ション」が開かれた。創刊40年 になる「労働情報」は今年4月から月刊化になり、カ

ラー表紙の洒 落た雑誌に生まれ変わった。その意気込みを感じさせるパネルで、

テーマは「社会を変える、労働運動を変える」だった。司会の東 海林智さんは、年

越し派遣村の話からはじめた。「組合は企業内 にしか目を向けずタコツボ化してい

る。派遣村のような社会運動 としての取り組みをどうつくったらいいのか。市民と

労働運動の距 離をどうやって埋めていったらいいのか、率直な意見を伺いたい」 と

問題提起した。パネリストは現場でたたかっている人たちばか り。それぞれの視点

から闊達な発言が続いた。登壇したのは、鈴木 剛（東京管理職ユニオン執行委員

長）さん、大椿裕子（大阪教育 合同労組委員長）さん、辻谷貴文（全日本水道労働

組合書記次 長）さん、松元千枝（労働情報編集人）さんだった。（松原明）
