Daihatsu dealer store in Indonesia fires workers for forming a union

On December 23^rd last year, Kharisma Sentosa Makassar Inc,  in Indonesia, refused to negotiate with the National Automobile Workers Union (Serikat Pekerja Otomotif Nasional / SPON) and  fired six union officers and three members  without any warning letter.

Kharisma Sentosa Makassar Inc is one of the authorized dealers of Daihatsu automobile and has dealer shops in major cities in South Sulawesi Province. The company is listed on the official website of Astra Daihatsu Motor Inc. Working conditions are harsh; the sales workers have to sell three cars a month to get a salary which is only minimum wage level, they are not registered as participants in the National Health Insurance System, and their work status was changed into a contractual worker after the change of management in 2016.

The union, SPON, officially registered in the Indonesian Regional Office of Manpower and Transmigration Department in October 2017, was established to fight for workers’ rights ignored by corporations. Two months after its founding, SPON demanded that the company negotiate but the company refused because it didn’t want to recognize the existence of a union. The union gave a strike notice to the company on December 21^st; two days later the company fired the nine workers. (Tono Haruhi)

過酷な労働条件、組合つくったら解雇！〜インドネシア・ダイハツの販売会社

インドネシア・ダイハツの販売会社であるカリスマ・セントサ・マカッサル社は、過酷な労働条件を是正しようと結成された労働組合との交渉を拒否しただけでなく、2017年12月 23日、警告もなく突然、組合役員6名、組合員3名を解雇した。南スラウエシ州の主要都市に店舗をもつカリスマ・セントサ・マカッサル社は、ダイハツから公認され、ダイハツの海外子会社、アストラ・ダイハツと覚書を交わす覚書を交わす販売代理店である。しかしながら、その労働条件は過酷で、月に車を3台販売しなければ最低賃金に達せず、健康保険への登録も無視され、2016年の経営陣の交代によりそれまでは明確ではなかった販売員の身分を契約労働者とした。会社の明らかな労働法違反に我慢できなくなった労働者たちは、2017年10月に全国自動車労働者組合（SPON）を結成し、労働移住省地域事務所に登録した。結成から2ゕ月後、12月11日、SPONは会社に交渉を申し入れたが、会社は労働組合の存在を認めないとして交渉を拒否したため、12月21日ストライキ通告をすると、23日、組合役員6名、組合員3名を解雇した。（遠野はるひ）
