Postal Unions stage national strike for better treatment for non-regular workers

Postal Workers Union and Postal Industry Workers Union staged a national strike demanding the equal treatment of non-regular workers and their promotion to regular status. Postal workers in 28 workplaces nationwide from Toyohira in Hokkaido to Nagasaki North Office joined the strike. 180 union members and supporters held a rally in front of the main office in Tokyo from 11:30 a.m. to say no to the Government's attempts to blame workers for  the deficit caused by mismanagement.

In a related story, in the Chiba  and Funabashi Branches, Postal Workers Union leaders were denied re-employment after mandatory retirement. The Union asserts that this is an unfair labor practice of discrimination based on union activities and is demanding rehiring of the two officials. (NIWA Yoshiko)

   

非正規社員の待遇改善を要求！～郵政ユニオンと郵産労が全国ストライキ

3月19日、郵政労働者ユニオンと郵政産業労働組合は、北は北海道豊平支店から、南は長崎北郵便局まで、全国28事業所において、「非正規社員の正社員化と均等待遇実現」を要求して、ストライキに突入した。11時半から行われた郵政本社前集会（写真）には、180名の郵政労働者・労働組合・支援者が結集し、経営の失敗による赤字のツケの、社員への転嫁を許さないとして、日本郵政に要求実現を迫った。また、千葉支店・船橋支店前行動では、郵政ユニオン船橋支部長と本部交渉部長の定年後の再任用拒否という、明らかな組合差別に抗議、2人の再任用を要求し、郵政ユニオンは、この不当労働行為に対し、断固闘うことを宣言した。（丹羽良子）
