What is going on in ready-mixed concrete industry in Kansai?

There has been something strange in the Kansai area since January this year. Those who are notorious for hate speech demonstrate on two large vehicles with large volume not only in Osaka City but also in the neighboring Wakayama and Kyoto Prefectures. Surprising is that some executive members of the Osaka Wide-Area Ready-Mixed Concrete Industry Cooperative join the demonstration by the neo-Nazis. They target the Kansai Destrict Ready-Mixed Concrete Local of the Zennikken Solidarity Union. On January 22, 2018, a group of the neo-Nazis and the executive members tried to rush into the building of the Zennikken Solidarity Union, resulting in injuries of some trade union members. What is happening there? Why does the industry cooperative, whose principle is mutual support to confront despotism of big businesses, collaborate with those who repeat antisocial behaviors? 緊急動画公開：いま関西の生コン業界で、なにがおきているのか

今年1月から、関西で異様な光景が連日くりひろげられている。ヘイトスピーチで悪名をはせた人物たちが大型の宣伝カー2台を乗り回し、大音量で街頭宣伝を行って、街中を練り歩いているのだ。その行く先は大阪市内をはじめ、和歌山、京都などに及ぶ。異様なのは、生コン業者団体の一部の幹部たちが一緒になってその活動に参加していることだ。かれらの行動の標的は連帯ユニオン関西地区生コン支部。1月22日には、ネオナチの一群と大阪広域生コン協組の一部執行部が連帯ユニオンの会館に乱入を図り、組合員にけがを負わせる事件までおきている。いったい、なにがおきているのか？ 大企業の横暴と対抗するための相互扶助を理念にした協同組合。その業者団体が、どうして反社会的な活動をくりかえす人物たちと手を結ぶのか。その実情と問題点を追う動画を作成した。（提供：全日本建設運輸連帯労働組合）

Osaka City claim never gets accepted overseas〜’Comfort Women Memorial’ Issue

 

 Among many reports on Osaka City retracting sister city relationship with San Francisco, SF Gate’s story (see photo) best reflects how Osaka mayor’s action has been interpreted in San Francisco. Roughly speaking, the action is taken as a “threat” and SF mayor expresses his disappointment. The article also introduces the fact presented by the mainstream historians that some 200,000 women were treated as sex slaves though called “comfort women.” The story says that former judge of San Francisco Court of Appeals, who contributed to setting up this memorial, was outraged at the Osaka mayor’s action. Unfortunately claims spread by the Osaka mayor, Restoration Party, Sankei Shimbun or Internet nationalists are not at all accepted overseas, let alone in Japan. (By YASUDA Yukihiro)

海外では全く通用しない大阪市長の主張～サンフランシスコの「慰安婦記念碑」問題

大阪市長の姉妹都市解消の動きについては、かなりの量の英文記事が配信されている。日本発、韓国発の英文記事なども多いのだけど、サンフランシスコの地元紙「SFゲート」の記者が書いた記事(写真）は、今回の大阪市長の行動がサンフランシスコでどのように受け止められているのかを比較的率直に反映しているのではないかと思う。ざっくり言えば大阪市長の姉妹都市解消をちらつかせて受け入れ拒否を迫る行動は「脅し(threat)」と受け止められていて、姉妹都市解消の手紙にSF市長は「失望した」という。また記事は、主流の歴史学者は20万の女性が「慰安婦」の名で性奴隷にされたと紹介している。そして、この記念碑設立に尽力したサンフランシスコ上級裁判所の元判事は大阪市長の行動に「激怒(outraged)」したという。大阪市長だの維新だの産経だのネトウヨだのが撒き散らす残念な主張は、日本国内ではともかく、海外ではまったく通用しない。（安田幸弘）
