“Don’t destroy the Constitution!” – Protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Office

On May 15, 2014, the Advisory Panel on Reconstruction of the Legal Basis for Security, a private advisory panel of Japan’s Prime Minister ABE Shinzo, filed a “report” to him. Based on the report, Abe expressed his consideration for using the right to collective self-defense at a press conference. Thus, he is going to nullify Article nine of the Japanese Constitution, which denounces war, and send Japan’s Self Defense Forces overseas to war. In the evening of that day, many people came to the front of the Prime Minister’s Office to protest, saying, “Don’t play with the Constitution!” “The Abe Administration is unconstitutional!” and “Don’t destroy the Constitution!”. Once Japan is involved in war, Japan also possibly becomes a battlefield. (Shinya)

 

Two days before, a human chain was organized to surround the Diet amid a tense situation that the Advisory Panel on Reconstruction of the Legal Basis for Security, a private advisory panel of Japan’s Prime Minister ABE Shinzo, would present him a report to “approve use of the right to collective self-defense” on as early as May 15. Many carried placards, saying, “Draft again”, “Never forget the tragedy of war”, and “Are we going to make war again?” Each of them reflected their anger and senses of danger. The number of the demonstrators finally reached approximately 2,500 to surround the Diet. On this day, many junior high school students visited the building. When one of the demonstrators told them, “We defend the peace constitution for you and never allow war”, the students were waving happily. TAKADA Ken, the organizer of the action, appealed, “It was decided that the report would be filed to the Prime Minister on May 15, followed by Abe’s press conference. We will say no to his pro-war stance as the sovereign here at 6pm on that day again”. (M)

「勝手に憲法を壊すな！」官邸前に怒り充満～安保法制懇「報告書」はいらない！緊急行動

5月15日、首相の私的諮問機関「安保法制懇」が安倍首相に｢報告書｣を提出した。それを受けて安倍首相は記者会見し、集団的自衛権の行使を検討すると表明。解釈改憲で9条を骨抜きにし、戦争をしに海外へ自衛隊を送ろうとしている。夕方、首相官邸前には抗議の人たちが続々と駆けつけて来た。「解釈改憲を許すな！」「安倍政権は違憲だ！」「勝手に憲法を壊すな！」。戦争になれば、戦地は海外ばかりでなく私たちが暮らしている日本も戦場になるということを忘れてはいけない。（shinya）

集団的自衛権の行使は認めない！～国会包囲ヒューマンチェーンに2500人

安倍首相の私的諮問機関・安保法制懇が「解釈改憲・集団的自衛権行使容認」の報告書を15日にも提出するという緊迫した状況のなか、5月13日昼、国会包囲ヒューマンチェーンが取り組まれた。手作りのプラカードを持参する人が多い。「気がついたら徴兵制」「戦争の惨禍を忘れない」「私たちはまた戦争をするのか」、一つひとつの言葉に人々の怒りと危機感が表現されていた。続々と集まった市民は約2500人に膨れあがり、国会包囲はほぼ実現した。この日は、国会見学の中学生の集団が多かった。市民はマイクで「あなたたちのためにも憲法守るからね、戦争をさせないよ」と呼びかけると、生徒たちも手を振って応えていた。主催者の高田健さんは、「報告書提出が15日に決まった。そのあと安倍首相の会見もある。私たちは15日午後6時に再びここに集まって、主権者としてノーの声を上げよう」と訴えた。（M） 

Say no to weaponry sale～wounded pacifist constitution further destroyed

The ABE Shinzo government is trying to abolish the principles to ban weaponry export, which have been considered the core of Japan’s pacifist constitution. The principles have been protected for half a century by the past prime ministers. However, the new principles that Abe cabinet was to pass on April 1 are to make it possible to export weaponry to even countries like Israel. About 50 people gathered in front of the prime minister’s official residence in Tokyo in the evening of March 31 to protest (photo). As a woman began reading Article 9, others joined in to recite it: “We renounce war. We renounce the threat or use of force as means of settling disputes. Isn’t this our country that owns this constitution? Japan should lead the world to ban all weaponry that kills mankind, let alone exporting it.” “It is unforgiveable that the New Komeito, which calls itself a pacifist party, joins in on this decision.” Each protester’s anger was surmounting. The survey on the street also shows majority opposing weaponry export, but Abe government is trying to destroy already-wounded constitution further by cabinet consent. (By M) 

「武器を売る国」閣議決定反対！～傷だらけの「平和憲法」さらに破壊

平 和憲法の内実のひとつ、半世紀にわたって歴代内閣によって維持されてきた「武器輸出禁止原則」が、国会審議も経ずに撤廃されようとしている。安倍内閣が4 月1日の閣議で決定しようとする「新原則」は、イスラエルへの武器輸出も可能にするもの。3月31日の夜、官邸前には約50人の市民が集まり抗議の声を上 げた（写真）。ある女性が憲法9条を読み上げると全員が声を合わせた。「戦争を放棄する。戦力は持たない。交戦権を認めない。この憲法をもつ国が私たちの 国ではないのか。日本は世界に率先して人を殺す武器を禁止させるべきであり、輸出するなどとんでもない」。「平和の党を名乗る公明党が加担している。許せ ない」。一人ひとりの怒りは大きかった。該当シール投票でも武器輸出反対は多数の声。しかし安倍政権は、閣議決定という姑息な手段を使い、傷だらけの憲法 をさらに壊そうとしている。（M）
