“Absolutely No War!” – LaborNet TV covers the “North Korea crisis”

 

 The program of LaborNet TV on September 12, 2017 was a discussion on the “Nuclear missile problem of North Korea”, joined by four guests. It started with an examination of the “ballistic missile dropped 1,180km off the coast of Hokkaido. OTA Masakuni commented first, “The world has approved state-sponsored terrorism the former US President George W. Bush started after the 9.11 attacks in 2001. It was once confirmed to encourage dialogue on the nuclear missile issue at the Japan-North Korea summit in 2002, but it has been thrown away by the current Abe administration. The current problem lies in the negative history”. OGURA Toshimaru, another guest, expressed a strong sense of crisis, “The state of peace in postwar Japan has been questioned. Is it possible for us ‘not to wage war’ even if a missile flies to Japan? Japan has constitutional constraints not to wage war or use force no matter what happens. This is what we are supposed to campaign for. Otherwise, Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution that denounces war simply becomes a pie in the sky”. (LaborNet TV Project)

「何があっても戦争をしない」～焦眉の「北朝鮮問題」に迫ったレイバーネットTV

9月12日のレイバーネットTVは、「夜生スペシャル」と題した討論番組を放送した。

テーマは焦眉の「北朝鮮核ミサイル問題」。4人のゲストが自由闊達に語った。番組

の冒頭に「襟裳岬」の音楽が流され、「弾道ミサイルが襟裳岬沖1180キロに落下」の

検証から始まった。まず太田昌国さんが発言。「2001年9月11日以降、ブッシュの国

家テロ発動の時代が始まったが世界がそれを認めてしまった。2002年の日朝首脳会談

で核ミサイルの対話促進が確認されたが、安倍政権のもと全て破棄されてしまった。

そんな負の歴史の中にいまの問題がある」との問題提起を受け、各ゲストからさまざ

まな発言が続いた。小倉利丸さんは「戦後日本の平和のあり方が問われている。我々

は本当にミサイルが飛んでこようが“戦争しない”という選択ができるのか。何が

あっても戦争をしない、武力を行使しない、というのが日本が持っている憲法の縛り

だ。そういう運動をしよう。そうでなければ九条は絵に描いた餅になる」と強い危機

Preventing War on the Korean Peninsula ～ Civilians and Religious Groups Demand Dialogue Without Conditions

 

On the afternoon of August 22^nd, a day after the United States and South Korea began joint military exercises amid escalating tension over North Korea, citizens and religious groups gathered for an “emergency rally” in front of the Diet Members’ Office Building.

The rally that amassed a crowd of a hundred people chanting “Defend life!” and “Prevent War on the Korean peninsula!” was co-sponsored by citizen groups Don’t Forgive the Undesirable Amendment to the Constitution, Keep the Constitution Alive, and the Network of Religious People Creating Peace. Many of the speakers at the rally demanded that the United States and South Korea should hold dialogue with North Korea without conditions, and that the Japanese government should do everything in its power to make that happen. “In the past, there has been war on the Korean Peninsula and talk of atomic bombings. We can’t say that won’t happen again,” said OKURA Kazuyoshi, a Catholic priest at the rally. “With our pacifist constitution and status as the only country to have come under nuclear bombing, Japan is the only country that can prevent conflict on the Korean peninsula.” He added, “Japan bears the responsibility of dividing Korea through colonial rule. There’s no other way than to raise our voices.” (SASAKI Yumi) 

無条件で対話を！朝鮮半島で戦争をするな～宗教者・市民が声あげる

8月21日、米韓合同軍事演習が始まった。アメリカと北朝鮮の軍事的な緊張が高まる中、22日午後、国会議員会館前で市民・宗教者による緊急集会が開かれた。許すな憲法改悪！市民連絡会、憲法を生かす会、平和をつくりだす宗教者ネットが共催。100人が集まり、「命を守ろう！朝鮮半島で戦争をするな！」のコールをあげた。発言者の多くは、「米朝は直ちに無条件で対話をすべき。日本政府はそのために力を尽くすべきだ」と訴えた。カトリック教会の大倉一美神父は、次のように語った。「かつて朝鮮半島で戦争があった。原爆投下も検討された。今回もその可能性はある。朝鮮半島の戦争を止めるのは平和憲法を持ち、被爆した日本以外にない。朝鮮の分断の責任は、植民地支配をした日本にある。私たちが声を上げ続けるほかない」。（佐々木有美） 写真速報・動画（5分半）
