Don’t be a slave state of global capital〜Protest against undemocratic decision on TPP

Japan’s lower house forced passed TPP on Nov. 4. Outraged by the undemocratic decision-making, people gathered around the Diet, calling it unreal. Without sufficiently debating TPP, Prime Minster Abe’s government has pushed TPP by force before the US presidential election. “Farmers feel completely lost,” a farmer who came from Akita that day said at the protest. “If the price of rice keeps falling, we will no longer be able to grow rice in Japan. What are we going to do in remote mountainous countries?” TPP is a system where global capitals set the rule pertaining GMOs, medicine, employment among other things. “The worst problem is that we will be deprived of our rights, and so will our government,” one woman pointed out. “Corporations will gain the right to sue a government under ISDS. We should not allow a system of state slavery.” (By M)

グローバル資本の奴隷国家はゴメン！～TPP強行採決に抗 議の声

 
11月4日午後4時すぎ、TPP国会承認議案が衆院特別 委で強行採決された。「こんな異常なやり方はない。ふざける な」。国会前で抗議する路上から怒りの声が上がった。まともな 審議時間もとらず、アメリカ大統領選前に強引に上げてしまおうと する「アベ暴走劇」だった。この日、秋田から急遽上京した農民 がマイクを握った。「いま農家は途方にくれている。米の価格が 下がりこのままでは米作りができなくなる。日本の農山村はどう なるのか！」と悲痛な叫びだった。遺伝子組み換え食品・医薬 品・雇用などあらゆる問題でグローバル資本がルールを決める TPP。問題は多岐にわたるが、ある女性は「中でも一番の問題は主 権が奪われてしまうこと。企業が国を訴えることができるISDS条 項で、奴隷国家にされてしまう」と強く訴えていた。（M）

Stop the steamrolling of the TPP approval bill!

 

There is an imminent danger of the TPP ratification bill being forced through in the Lower House of the Diet. The ruling parties were seeking to pass the bill by the end of October. On October 26th, public hearings in Hokkaido and Miyazaki were held. On the next day, unsworn testimony from experts nominated by the opposition parties in the special House of Representatives Committee was held for the first time. Among them were UCHIDA Seiko from the Pacific Asian Resource Center and YAMAURA Yasuaki from the People’s Movement against TPP.

We think that TPP will violate the rights of people to health and decent lives and deprive us of our national sovereignty and is thus in violation of the Japanese Constitution. We will do our best to stop the approval of the bill in this Diet session. Let’s spread the news about the danger of the TPP to as many people as possible. あらゆるものを破壊するTPPの「強行採決」迫る～反対の声を上げよう！
