Four students wage indefinite hunger strike

Four students are waging an indefinite hunger strike against the security bills and the Abe Cabinet. They started their action in front of the Upper House Members Building at 2 p.m. August 27^th. 80 supporters and reporters gathered for the kick-off. The four students will take only water and salt and will sleep-in during the night. Each expressed their resolve: SHIMANE Kenji from Sensyu University said, “Anger against the security bills urged me into a hunger strike. I strongly refuse to take part in war.” Ida Takashi from Jochi University said, “Post-war Japan was peaceful, but was indirectly involved in the war in Korean, Vietnam and Iraq. I want to re-examine the history of peace and war in these 70 years after WWⅡ.” MOTOKI Daisuke from Sensyu University said, “ I have been fighting against the construction of Henoko Base in Okinawa. If we allow the security bills to be enacted, more burdens will fall on the people of Okinawa. I want to show the will of the people by direct action.” (SASAKI Yumi)

「戦争絶対反対」緊張感と初々しさ～学生4人が無期限ハンスト
「安保法案成立阻止 安倍政権打倒」をかかげ、学生たちの無期限ハンストが始まった。8月27日午後2時、参議院会館前でハンストに突入したのは、井田敬さん（上智大学2 年）、元木大介さん（専修大学4年）、嶋根健二さん（専修大学4年）、木本将太郎さん（早稲田大学1年）の4人。水と塩以外、一切の食物を絶ち、夜間も泊り込みをする。開始時刻には、約80人の支援者、メディア関係者が集まった。4人の決意表明は、緊張感と初々しさにあふれていた。嶋根さんは「戦争法案への怒りでハンストをする。戦争への荷担を絶対拒否する」。井田さんは「戦後の日本は平和だったが、朝鮮戦争、ベトナム戦争、イラク戦争など、間接的だが戦争とかかわってきた。戦後70年の平和と戦争を問い直したい」。元木さんは「辺野古基地に反対してきた。この法案が通ればさらに沖縄に負担がかかる。直接 行動で民意を示したい」と話した。（佐々木有美）

Stop the restart of Oi Nuclear Plant Hunger strike waged in from of MET

More than 150 people gathered at the tent space in front of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on April 17^th noon. An out-door press conference to announce the start of a hunger-strike to stop the restart of Oi Nuclear Power Plant was held at the venue. Many reporters from the mass media including NHK, Asahi TV, Kyodo Press, Tokyo Shinbun and many foreign press, as well as independent, net-media attended the conference. On the podium were speakers, KAMATA Satoshi and OCHIAI Keiko and the tent dwellers in their white happi coats.(Photo) Diet members from the Social Democratic Party, TERUYA Kantoku and HATTORI Ryoichi and the Our Party, KAWADA Ryuhei joined the event. 23 people went into hunger strike that day, but more are expected to join later. “Anyone can appeal to the public by simply joining the hunger strike. You can participate just for one day, so please join us. Let’s join hands to stop the Tomari Nuclear Power Plant on May 5^th and make it the best present for children on Children’s Day!” appealed the organizer of the action. (M)

 大飯再稼働阻止！集団ハンストがスタート 

4 月17日正午、経産省前テントひろばは150人をこえる黒山の人だかりとなった。ここで「大飯原発再稼働ヤメロ！集団ハンスト」開始の街頭記者会見が行わ れた。NHK・テレビ朝日・共同通信・東京新聞などのマスコミから、海外メディア、フリーやネットメディアの姿が見える。演壇には、鎌田慧・落合恵子・広 瀬隆・中嶌哲演住職・神田香織、そしてテントひろばのメンバーがハッピ姿で並んだ（写真）。社民党の照屋寛徳・服部良一、みんなの党の川田龍平ら国会議員 も駆けつけ会見は盛り上がった。この日ハンストに突入したのは23人だが、今後の呼びかけで大きな規模に膨れる予定だ。主催者は、「ハンストはどこでもで きるアピール手段。1日でもいいからハンスト登録をしてほしい。そして5月5日の泊原発停止で原発ゼロを絶対に実現し、子どもたちに最良・最高のプレゼン トをしよう」と呼びかけた。また、フランスなど海外からも応援メッセージが届いた。（M）

Show GOVT, JR Workers’ Determination—21-day Marathon, Hunger Strike End

A 21-day run and hunger strike by three unionists ended on Feb. 16. They demanded the government and Japan Railways Co that they keep jobs by their actions, while not accepting the monetary settlement.

The run and hunger strike were supported not by unions or joint struggle but by 160 individuals. They also submitted their request to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and each JR companies.

“People who didn’t know about our struggle against the National Railways even accompanied me in the run,” said NAKANO Hayato, a former NR worker, at a rally on Feb. 17. “I’d like to cherish this support network to let businesses know not to unfairly lay off workers. I will come back on the 16^th of every month from Shikoku region to run again around the Diet building. This is the determination of workers.” Other workers of former National Railways spoke of their determination to continue their struggle at the rally. (By M) .  労働者の土根性を政府・JRに見せたい！～21日間の国会マラソン・ハンスト終わる 

 「JR不採用問題の終結。金銭解決だけでは納得できない。政府はJR雇用の約束を守れ」と、1月27日から国会マラソン・ハンストで訴えてきた3人の当事者の行動が、2月16日終わった。労組や共闘組織のバックもない個人主体の行動だったが、支援者など延べ160人が参加した。国交省・JR各社への要請も取り組んだ。17日の集約集会で当事者の中野勇人さん（元国労北見闘争団）は、「国鉄闘争を全く知らない人も伴走してくれた。こうした出会いをつなげていきたい。労働者のクビを切ったら大変だということを政府に知らしめたい。今後も毎月16日に、四国から夜行バスで上京して国会マラソンをやるつもりだ。これが労働者の土根性だ」と力強く訴えた。集会では、ほかに元闘争団員の佐久間忠夫・猪股正秀・松崎博巳の各氏が「闘争継続」の決意を語った。（M）　＊写真＝> 国会マラソン（右が中野勇人さん）
