Fukushima is getting worse – Friday anti-nuke protest continues

Summer heat kept many people from coming to the Friday anti-nuke protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Parliament on July 14, 2017. However, the nuclear disaster in Fukushima has been even getting worse. KAMEYA Sachiko, who wore a placard saying, “Give Our Hometown Back”, appealed in front of the PM Office, “Fukushima is even getting worse. The number of children suffering from thyroid cancer has increased to 191. An operation for it is not enough. They will have to take hormones for life. What do you think if this happened to your grandchildren?” She added, “There have been an increasing number of deaths caused by leukemia or sudden cardiac deaths. In front of the Parliament, HARUHASHI Satoshi who regularly reports the current situation of the disaster said, “Storage of contaminated water in the tanks has exceeded a million tons. Chairperson Kawamura of Tokyo Electric Power Company admitted that the tanks would be full only in two years”. What will happen next? (KINOSHITA Masaaki)
