May Day in Chicago, its birthplace: “Farewell to Nuke Carp Banner” flies

No Nukes! Shutem down! On May 1, 2012, twelve Japanese delegates demanded in Chicago, the birthplace of May Day, that nuclear power plants be shut down. The delegates raised a 3-meter long green carp banner and 200 smaller ones for farewell to nukes with a message, Stop restart of nukes, to demonstrate together with local workers and Occupy Chicago members (photos). Local demonstrators also chanted against nukes in Japanese with the smaller carp banners in hand. The delegates said, Japan has been contaminated with radioactivity since the disaster of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant of March 11, 2011. Its time for solidarity with workers in Chicago and around the world to abolish nuclear power plants from all around the world, referring to the fact that the last operating nuclear power plant in Japan would stop on May 5. No Nukes!
