No More Low Wages and Long Working Hours! ～ 200 Workers Form the “Sanko Taxi Workers’ Union”

 

On August 21^st, a labor union in Mie Prefecture, “Union Mie” (General Workers Union Mie Prefecture), successfully organized some two hundred workers at Sanko Taxi Company in Tsu City across all eight of its offices (CEO NAKAJIMA Yoshihiro). Three days later, on August 24^th, Union Mie held a press conference after notifying the company about the formation of the “Sanko Taxi Workers’ Union” and plans for collective bargaining. Along with NOGUCHI Kaoru, the president of the new union, 30 workers visited the Sanko Taxi Company headquarters that day and handed a list of demands to a company executive. In addition to starting collective bargaining negotiations on September 6^th, the demands include ameliorating the situation of employees working long hours for low wages, and eradicating harassment of every kind given that the union received reports of harassment from each of the eight offices. At the press conference, NOGUCHI said in a statement: “We aren’t just fighting for workers at Sanko Taxi Company. We’re hoping our work will lead to improvements in working conditions for the entire industry.” (Jinbu Akai)

低賃金・長時間労働をなくせ！～200人で「三交タクシーユニオン」を結成

三重県の労働組合、「ユニオンみえ（ 三重一般労働組合」は、株式会社三交タクシー（津市乙部・中島嘉浩社長）の従業員、約200人（8つすべての営業所）を組織し、8月21日に「三交タクシーユニオン」を結成した。そして、8月24日、本社に組合結成と団体交渉の通告を行い、記者会見を開いた。24日は新たに結成された「三交タクシーユニオン」の野口薫委員長をはじめ、組合員ら30人が株式会社三交タクシー本社を訪れ、同社役員に要求書を手渡した。組合は9月6日に団体交渉を開催すること、「低賃金で長時間働かなければならない実態をなんとかしてほしい」「各営業所から各種ハラスメントの相談が寄せられている」とし、あらゆるハラスメントの根絶などを求めた。野口委員長は同日の記者会見で、「私たちは三交タクシーだけの問題に取り組むのではなく、この業界全体の処遇改善につながるように頑張りたい」と決意を語っている。（神部紅） 報告　＊写真＝組合結成を通告したユニオンメンバー（会社前）

Union for Foreign Workers Born at Sharp-affiliated Plant

　Nearly 200 workers established a union at Sharp Co.-affiliated plant in Matsuzaka City, Mie Prefecture, on Aug. 18. The members manufacture liquid plasma display at Sharp Mie Plant No. 2 and No. 3 in the city. They are all Filipino working at GL, which is an outsourcing company of Mie Tech, a Sharp subsidiary. There are about 300 people working at the plant, but the union, Union Mie Sharp PNoy Unity, was able to organize more than a majority of workers. Union Mie: Four dispatched workers take JTEKT Co. to the court

Four ex-employees of JTEKT Co., a parts supply maker for Toyota, filed a suit to the Tsu District Court, claiming unfair dismissal. These four workers are members of Union Mie, a community union based on individual affiliation, which is an affiliate of the Japan Community Federation affiliated to Rengo and were employed with a fixed term but were in fact employed under disguised contracting. The company refused the demand by the workers to reinstate, so they went to court. One of the plaintiffs is also demanding compensation for mental damages inflicted by disclosure of his HIV infection to other employees, on which he reported to the company on entering the company.(SAKAI Touru)Photo: Plaintiffs at Tsu District Court

ユニオンみえ : 元派遣労働者４人がジェイテクトを提訴
偽装請負で働かせた労働者を形式的に期間雇用し、解雇したのは不当であるとして、トヨタ自動車グループの部品メーカー・ジェイテクトの元従業員4名が、9月9日に津地方裁判所に提訴した。4人は三重県の個人加盟制労働組合・ユニオンみえ（「連合」構成産別・全国ユニオン加盟）に加盟し、ジェイテクトに復職を求めてきたが拒絶され、提訴に及んだという。また原告の一人は、就職時に会社に申告したHIV感染の事実を無関係の従業員に言いふらされたとして、慰謝料の支払いも求めている。（酒井徹）＊写真＝津地裁に提訴する原告団

A Strike at Suzuka Sakura Hospital, Mie Prefecture, Wins Night Work Allowance Increase

The union of the Suzuka Sakura Hospital located in the city of Suzuka, Mie Prefecture、 went on a strike at 16:30, July 5, for allowance increases (see the photo). The hospital management agreed to meet the union's demand at 17:00 that day, that is, 30 minutes after the strike had started, based upon which the union ended the strike immediately. During the strike, managerial personnel pitched in, avoiding direct impact on patients. The strike was staged by the Suzuka Sakura Hospital Branch of Union Mie (an affiliate of the Japan Community Union Federation which is affiliated to Rengo). Out of about 140 personnel at the Suzuka Sakura Hospital including nurses, clerical workers and meal cooks, 116 workers have joined the union, and the chairperson of the executive board of the Union Mie, Itaru Shioda, chairs the branch. 三重：鈴鹿さくら病院でストライキ～夜勤手当増額を実現
　三重県鈴鹿市の鈴鹿さくら病院で、手当の引き上げなどをめぐり7月5日の16時30分から労働組合がストライキを行なった（写真）。病院側はストライキ突入から30分が経過した同日17時に組合側の要求を受け入れ、ストライキはただちに解除された。ストライキ中は管理職などが代替要員に回り、患者への直接的な影響はなかった。ストライキを行ったのはユニオンみえ（「連合」構成産別・全国ユニオン加盟）の鈴鹿さくら病院分会。鈴鹿さくら病院に勤務する看護師や事務員・給食調理員など職員約140人中116人が加盟しており、ユニオンみえの塩田至執行委員長が分会長を勤めている。（酒井徹）

Labor movement driven by young power - Rally takes place for victory of the Hikari Seiko struggle

On April 11, a rally and demonstration took place for the victory of the Hikari Seiko struggle in the city of Kuwana, Mie Prefecture. Hikari Seiko Co., Ltd., a components manufacturer affiliated with Toyota, has been practicing disguised contracting and external assignment. It is now under fire in a dispute over the unfair discharges of 36 workers from abroad in April last year. Forming a big and warm envelope for the Brazilian families including infants and young children, the pep rally was very hot and heartwarming at the same time. Aging of citizens' movements is a familiar phrase, anti-nuclear and pro-peace movement alike. By contrast, the labor movement is driven by the youth! It is only natural for workers' movement to be focused on economic struggles for bread for today. The day has also brought me a thought that we would have tremendous power if this young labour movement and peace movement supported mainly by post-retirement generations could come closer toward each other. 労働運動は若い～光精工の闘争勝利をめざす集会開かれる
　4月11日、光精工闘争勝利をめざす総決起集会とデモが、三重県桑名市で行われました。光精工は、トヨタ系部品メーカーで、長年にわたる偽装請負や違法派遣・偽装出向の末に昨年4月に外国人労働者36名が不当解雇され闘争中です。決起集会は、乳飲み子や幼児同伴のブラジル人家族を囲む輪は大きく暖かくものすごい熱気に、ほんわかと心があたたかくなる集会でした。市民運動は非核も平和も高齢化といわれます。比べて労働運動は若い！ 労働者の運動が、今日の糧のために経済闘争を優先させなければならないのは当然です。そこを通り越してリタイアし、老境に入った世代の平和運動とが、もっともっとお近づきになれたら1000人力だとも思った一日でした。（宮西いずみ）・ユニオンみえHP　

Never Meekly Accept It - Takeshi Kitagawa, a Fixed-term Employee at Honda Motor Rises

A trade union for protecting the rights of fixed term employees has been organized at Honda Motors Co., Ltd. Union Mie Honda Unit. On February, Union Mie publicly presented its member Mr. Takeshi Kitagawa (at the right in the photo) to submit a letter of request to the headquarters of Honda. Mr. Kitagawa's appeal says, "Why are we "term" employees put in a weak position? It is because we are not organized in a union, I suppose. A labor union is not a privilege only granted to regular employees. It is a right granted to all workers under Article 28 of the Constitution of Japan."

　泣き寝入りはしない～本田技研期間工・北川剛さん立ち上がる
　期間契約社員の権利を守るための労働組合が本田技研で結成されました。ユニオンみえ・ホンダユニットです。ユニオンみえは２月10日、北川剛組合員（写真右）を公然化させ、ホンダ本社に要求書を提出しました。北川さんは訴えます。「私たち“期間”はなぜ弱いのでしょうか。1760人もいるのに会社の言いなりで泣き寝入りしなくてはならないのでしょうか。それは一人一人がばらばらで、労働組合に入っていないからではないでしょうか。労働組合は正社員にだけ認められた特権ではありません。憲法28条ですべての労働者に認められている権利です」。 ＊写真＝県庁記者会見
