Tuition Waver for Korean Schools!—Protest against Abe Government’s Decision

People protested simultaneously in Tokyo, Osaka and Aichi prefectures on Jan. 24 against the government’s decision to exclude Korean schools from tuition waver. Soon after its establishment, Abe administration announced its decision to exclude Korean schools from tuition waver. The decision was left untouched for three years, and the quick decision this time hints at the government’s attempt to revise the ministry order. Following the government’s decision, Korean high schools filed a lawsuit. The people at the protest, including parents and students of Korean high schools, called for unfairness and their rights in front of the education ministry. We should not let Abe government carry it out so easily. Additional protests and events are planned for Feb. 6 and 7 at education ministry and at the Diet in Tokyo. (By YUMOTO Masanori)

１ 月２４日、大阪、愛知で朝鮮高校無償化排除は違法と訴えた提訴が相次いで行われ、同時に東京では文部科学省への抗議行動が取り組まれた。安倍政権は就任し てまもなく、３年も放置してきた朝鮮高校の無償化からの排除問題に対し、いとも簡単に「排除決定」を発表した。そして現在、そのための省令「改正」が目論 まれている。この動きにこれまで粘り強く高校無償化実現を訴えてきた朝鮮高校関係者は、裁判に打って出た。文科省前では、朝鮮高校の保護者が次々にマイク で訴えた。それは、３年間も放置されてきた生徒たちの気持ちを思いやった言葉だった。安倍政権の横暴を、そう簡単に実現させてはならない。東京では、２月 ６日に文科省要請、７日には院内集会が予定されている。（湯本雅典）
