Evacuees are pushed to the limit. Meeting held to protest the Abe’s failure to act

The Law to Support Child Survivors of Nuclear Accidents was enacted on June 21, 2012. A year later, a meeting was held at the Upper House Diet Member’s Building to protest the Government’s failure to act. The Abe government has done nothing to enforce the law, causing huge damage to the lives of the nuclear accident survivors. They cannot newly apply for subsidies for the house rent, a great economic and mental blow to evacuees. People living in contaminated areas face a huge economic burden if they wish to escape from contamination and recover their health. Health checks for evacuees from Fukushima Prefecture and a medical fee exemption for children and expectant mothers also have yet to be realized. (FUKUSHIMA Masanori)
