Foreign residents in Japan outraged by more restrictive revised Immigration Control Act

 

 Many demonstrations were carried out against the more restrictive revised Immigration Control Act and Act of the Basic Resident Registers, which were put into effect on July 9, 2012. The demonstrations were joined by many foreign residents who are affected by the revised laws. On that day, the Provisional Release Association in Japan (PRAJ), which was formed by undocumented residents on temporary release, refugee applicants and Japanese supporters of them, held a rally and a march near Hibiya Park in central Tokyo, joined by more than 200, mostly foreign residents (photo). They protested the thorough exclusion and marginalization from society and demanded Japan’s Ministry of Justice to reconsider its policies focusing on detaining undocumented residents and grant special residence permission to them. 管理強化に在日外国人が怒りのデモ～7月9日から新入管法施行

２００９ 年に改定成立した「出入国管理法」と「住民基本台帳法」が、先日７月９日に施行され、その内容に反対する集会や、新制度から排除される在日外国人当事者の 抗議デモが相次いで行われた。９日には、「仮放免中」の非正規滞在者や難民申請者と、日本人支援者が２０１０年に結成した「仮放免者の会」による集会とデ モが日比谷公園周辺で行われた。２００人を超えるデモ参加者があり（写真）、外国人当事者が１８０人近くに上った。一行は今回の入管法の改定で徹底排除さ れ「社会から見えなくなる」存在にさせられることに抗議して、収容政策の見直しや、在留特別許可を求めて法務省に申し入れを行った。（西中誠一郎） 

Protest against restart of Oi Nuclear Power Plant never stopped – In Oi and Tokyo

 

 


In defiance of strong criticism, the operation of the Oi Nuclear Power Plant restarted at 9 pm on July 1, 2012. Many protesters continued to chant “Don’t restart!” with drum beats until very late at night despite the riot police’s violent intervention. This protest was broadcast on the Internet (photo on the left) and always viewed by 26,000 people. Many messages were sent to the demonstrators on Twitter from all around the world. On the other hand, many people protested against the restart in the Shinjuku district, Tokyo, chanting “Shut down nukes!” and “Don’t restart!” (photo on the right). People’s outrage was getting even stronger. (M)

大飯原発運転開始に抗議の声やまず！～大飯ゲート前・新宿アルタ前

7 月1日午後9時、大飯原発運転開始が強行された。現地のゲート前では、機動隊が暴力排除を繰り返す中、抗議の人たちがドラムにあわせ「再稼動反対」の声を 深夜まで上げ続けた。この攻防の様子はIWJがネット配信（写真左）、常時視聴数は2万6千に達し、世界からもツイッターで応援メッセージが書き込まれ た。一方、東京・新宿アルタ前にもたくさんの人が集まり（写真右）、「原発なくせ」「再稼動反対」の大コールを響かせた。6.29空前の官邸前行動でブ レークした人々の怒りは、広がる一方だった。（М）

If you appear on LaborNet TV, you’re fired! – Osaka Mayor Hashimoto continues to be arrogant

 HASHIMOTO Toru, mayor of Osaka City, proposed an “ordinance bill to restrict political activities of city workers” on July 6, 2012. If the bill is passed, the city workers are totally prevented from taking part in political activities, and dismissed if they do not follow the bill. At a press conference, Mr. Hashimoto says, “Public workers’ confrontation with a politician is absolutely unacceptable”. In other words, if a city worker is critical of Mr. Hashimoto, the worker will be fired. The bill is really repressive and undemocratic. According to the bill, such activities of Osaka City workers as joining a demonstration, criticizing the mayor at a rally and/or satirizing are subjected to dismissal. My appearance on LaborNet TV possibly results in punitive dismissal. This is such a grim situation faced by Osaka City workers now. We, the city workers, would like to be in solidarity with as many citizens as possible to turn back this negative tide.  レイバーネットTVに出たら「解雇」！～大阪・橋下市長の暴走とまらず

大 阪市の橋下市長は、７月６日の臨時市議会に「職員政治規制条例案｣を提案しました。この条例案は、大阪市の職員の政治的な活動をすべて禁止し、それに違反 すれば懲戒免職（解雇）するというものです。橋下市長は記者会見で「公務員が政治家と対決するなんて絶対にあってはいけない」と言っています。つまり、大 阪市職員が橋下市長を批判すれば、それで解雇すると言っているも同じです。まるで戦前の治安維持法です。この条例案からすると、大阪市職員がデモをするこ とや署名活動、集会で橋下市長を批判すること、演劇で世相を風刺することなどは、すべて解雇の対象となるのです。私は、以前レイバーネットTVに出しても らいましたが、そうした行為は懲戒免職（解雇）の対象となります。今、大阪市職員はこうした状況に置かれようとしています。多くの理解ある市民と連携して 反撃に出たいと思っています。（なかまユニオン大阪市職員支部・矢野幸一）

“Move to Fukushima to take responsibility!” Muto urges TEPCO at stockholders meeting

 

The stockholders meeting of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) was held on June 27　at the National Yoyogi Arena in Tokyo. The huge venue was filled with nearly 5000 stockholders. TEPCO chairperson Katsumata, opened with an  apology for the Fukushima disaster, but it was  empty talk. The vice-president answered the request to stop nuclear power plants by saying, “We will not retreat from nuclear power generation, since it is necessary for a stable supply of electricity.” The answer was greeted with a loud boo. MUTO Ruiko of the No Nukes Fukushima Women spoke for the 402 No Nukes TEPCO Stockholders when she said, “We are still in danger of radiation and contamination, especially from the number 4 reactor. All the TEPCO board members should relocate to Fukushima and should assume their social responsibility to compensate victims for the radiation and contamination.” The vice-governor of Tokyo, Inose, grilled board members over  the cover-up of the TEPCO Hospital case and  the rehiring of Katsumata as an outside board member of the Japan Atomic Power Company, making TEPCO officials wince in silence. The meeting went on for 5 hours as the No Nukes stockholders tirelessly criticized the power company. （Ｍ）

 「東電役員は福島に居を移して責任果たせ」～株主総会で武藤類子さんが訴え

6 月27日午前10時、東京電力の株主総会が、東京・国立代々木競技場で開催された。どでかい会場に、5000人近い株主がすっぽり収まった（写真）。冒 頭、勝俣会長が原発事故のお詫びを表明したが、言葉だけだった。原発撤退を求める株主質問に対して副社長は、「原発からは撤退しない。将来の安定供給のた めに重要だ」と回答し、会場から激しいブーイングを浴びた。「脱原発・東電株主（402人）」の提案説明では、「原発いらない福島の女たち」の武藤類子さ んが立ち、「放射能汚染そして四号機問題など私たちは今なお不安の中にいる。ここにいる役員は福島に居を移すべきだ。そして速やかな賠償・被ばく労働への 補償など社会的責任を果たしてほしい」と迫った。また猪瀬東京都副知事は、「東電病院の情報隠蔽」「勝俣会長の日本原電再任問題」を鋭く追及し、会社側が たじたじとなる一幕もあった。総会は午後3時すぎまで続き、脱原発株主が終始、会社批判の声を上げた。（M）

Listen to the people’s voice: No Nukes! Over 100 thousand surround the Prime Minister’s Office

 

The anger of people opposing the restart of Oi nuclear power plant exploded on June 29. The Prime Minister’s Office in Tokyo was surrounded by more than 100 thousand demonstrators who started out walking on the sidewalks, but quickly flowed onto the road. The police had to acquiesce to make the main road to the Prime Minister’s Office a free space for the people. It was the first time since the protest actions against the signing of Japan-US Security Treaty in 1960 that the Diet building and the Prime Minister’s Office were surrounded by a mass demonstration. There were many press helicopters in the air. The Labornet TV crew was there to live-broadcast and interview the participants, most of whom were first-comers. All of them were earnest, saying “Absolutely no to nukes!” “We just have to take action.” Ordinary citizens who have not taken part in any social movements were there with handmade placards, banners, etc. At 8 pm, organizers called on the participants to disperse to ensure the next action. The rally ended peacefully. June 29 will undoubtedly become a historic day for the No Nukes uprising in Japan. (M)

「原発いらない」民の声を聞け！～官邸前を埋め尽くした10万超える人々

6 月29日、大飯原発再稼働に反対する人々の怒りが爆発した。首相官邸前は10万人をこえる人々で埋まった。最初参加者は歩道に並んでいたが、続々と集まる 人の群れで歩道は限界に達し、遂に車道にまで広がっていった。警察も黙認、官邸前・国会脇の大通りは完全に「解放区」となった。そこは人、人、人の波だっ た。「紫陽花革命」の大きなプラカードが目立つ。国会・官邸前の「巨大デモ」の出現は、60年安保以来の画期的出来事になった。空にはヘリコプターが何台 も飛びマスコミ報道も過熱した。「レイバーネットTV」はチームを組んで、参加者の生の声を聞いたが、初めて参加した人が圧倒的に多かった。「原発は絶対 だめだ」「行動を起こすしかない」、みな真剣だ。これまで活動とは無縁のフツーの人たちが手作りのアピールグッズを手にやってきた。午後8時、巨万の人々 は主催者の「次に繋げるためにここで解散しよう」との呼びかけに応え、整然と行動を終了し解散した。2012年6月29日は、まちがいなく「脱原発・世直 し運動」の歴史的な日になった。（M）

2200 gathered to say no to resｔart In Funabashi where Noda lives

At 2pm June 24, 2200 people gathered at Nishifunabashi Kinrin Park in Chiba Prefecture to protest  Prime Minister Noda’s decision to restart the Oi nuclear power plant. The Prime Minister lives in Funabashi City. Participants from Tokyo “occupied” the Sobu line train on their way to Chiba (Photo by NISHINAKA Seiichiro). They raised their voices against Noda’s decision to restart the Oi nuclear power plant without having clarified the true cause of the Fukushima Disaster. The rally ended with a march to Funabashi station at 3pm Participants in this demonstration, the biggest in Funabashi City for many decades, were greeted with cheers and calls of support on their arrival at the station.  野田首相の地元・船橋で2200人が「再稼働止めろ」のデモ

6 月24日（日）午後２時、西船橋近隣公園で大飯原発再稼働を決めた野田首相に抗議する集会に東京や関東そして地元千葉県から2200人が集まった。東京か らの参加者は三鷹駅発の中央総武線の千葉行き各駅電車に「オキュパイ」して西船橋駅に集まった（写真）。参加者は福島第一原発事故の原因も明らかにされな いまま、原発の再稼働を決めた野田首相に対して怒りの発言を行った。午後３時から市の中心の船橋駅まで抗議のデモを行った。22日の首相官邸を包囲した4 万人の怒りが野田首相の地元に波及して、船橋市でまれにみる大きなデモとなった。デモ隊が船橋駅周辺に到着すると多くの市民が反原発の声援を送った。＜報 道部ＭＴ＞
