This Is How We Stop Nuclear Plants – 600 Gather for No Nokes Women’s Rally

  About 600 people gathered for No Nukes Women’s Rally on Nov. 23 at Meiji University Academy Hall in Tokyo. HASHIMOTO Mika, chairperson of Uniform Promotion Committee, opened as an emcee. The video messages from SETOUCHI Jakucho, a nun, and KAYAMA Rika, psychiatrist played at the opening of the rally. “We bet our lives on issues we must oppose,” Setouchi said. “We must say what we want to say. We must protect children of the next generation.” Kayama said that nothing changes if you only seek a peace of mind from nuclear plants. “Nothing begins unless we stare into the reality.”

こうやって原発を止める～「脱原発をめざす女たちの会」集会に600人
 

11 月23日、東京の明治大学アカデミーホールで、「こうやって原発を止める」集会が行われました。主催は「脱原発をめざす女たちの会」。約600名が参加し ました。司会は「制服向上委員会」会長の橋本美香さん。最初に瀬戸内寂聴さんと香山リカさんからのビデオメッセージがありました。瀬戸内さんは「命をかけ て反対したいことは反対しよう。言いたいことを言おう。次の世代を担う子供たちを守ろう」と呼びかけました。香山さんは「原発からの心理的逃避では何も変 わらない。現実を受け止めることからしか始まらない」と訴えました。（尾澤邦子）

Let’s Vote, for Tomorrow without Nuclear Plants – Civil Society Opens Campaign

A movement to vote for candidates who speak against nuclear power plants is expanding. A group organizing the weekly protest at PM’s office has launched a campaign, “Your Choice,” to send a large number of anti-nuke candidates to the parliament. The group made posters and fliers explaining nuclear policies of 15 parties. It also plans to expand the campaign by distributing these fliers in millions across the nation. Green Peace Japan launched a “No to Nuclear Plants! Go to Vote!” campaign. “This election is the first general election since the disaster. The whole world is watching us. Japan’s voters must decide whether they want the future without nuclear plants. Let’s eliminate nuclear plants and build a society with less energy and renewable energy. You must go to vote to be able to accomplish this. Forget about loyalty. We want you to cast that one vote for those who call for nuclear free society.”

投票しようよ。脱原発のあしたに。～市民団体がキャンペーンを開始

 
き たるべき総選挙で脱原発議員を選ぼうという運動が広がっている。官邸前デモ主催者の「首都圏反原発連合」は、圧倒的な数の脱原発議員を国会へ送り込むた め、脱原発「あなたの選択」キャンペーンを立ち上げた。15政党の脱原発政策・比較をわかりやすく示したチラシ・ポスターを作成、これをネットなど駆使し て全国数百万規模で広げる計画。またグリーンピースは、「げんぱつにNO！せんきょにGO！」キャンペーンを行い、「今回の選挙は、あの事故の後の初めて の総選挙。世界中が注目しています。日本の有権者は、原発のないあしたを選ぶのか？ 原発やめて、省エネ・自然エネルギーで生きる社会をつくろう。そのために・・・投票所に行ってほしい。そして政党にしばられず脱原発候補者に一票を入れて ほしい」と呼びかけている。

It’s Labor’s Turn! – Workers’ Committee to Aim for Nuclear Free Society Established

 “Civil society is active in no nukes movement, but it’s our turn now to mobilize workers and unions,” HASEGAWA Takehisa, president of Japan Construction and Transport Industry Workers Solidarity Union, said on Nov. 20 in Tokyo. “We have long made effort to protect our jobs and livelihoods, but as we are threatened even for our existence by nuclear plants, we must protect our lives and safety. No life, no job. We would build solidarity with those who are deprived of decent work and living due to dangerous work in radioactive environment.” The committee formed by seven unions plans to hold a simultaneous actions in March and movie screening of a documentary on people of Futaba. Some 60 attended the meeting held for establishment of the committee and listened to KAIDO Yuichi, lawyer, who spoke of the basic law on nuclear free society. (By M)

これからは労働運動の出番だ！～「脱原発社会をめざす労働者実行委員会」結成集会

「市 民運動が活発だが、これからは労働運動の出番だ」。11月20日、長谷川武久委員長（全日建連帯労組）は、東京・全水道会館で開かれた「脱原発社会をめざ す労働者実行委員会」結成集会で意気込みを語った。「労働運動といえば『雇用と生活を守る』ことに力を入れてきたが、原発に生存を脅かされている今は、 『命と安全を守る』ことが重要。命なくして雇用もない。被ばく労働者問題や被災地で人間らしい生活を奪われた人達と連帯していきたい」と訴えた。7労組で 構成される会は、来年3月の一斉アクションや『原発の町を追われて～避難民・双葉町の記録』などの脱原発映画上映活動に取り組む。この日の集会には60名 が参加し、海渡雄一氏の講演「脱原発基本法のめざすもの」に耳を傾けた。（M）
