High school students are citizens Nationwide action by T-ns SOWL

On February 21^st, a nationwide rally of high school students was held in 12 locations, organized by T-ns SOWL (Teens Stand up to Oppose War Law). In Tokyo, the demonstration started from Yoyogi Park. This action by high school students was supported by 78 organizations. One of the participants, SATO Manabu of the Association of Scholars Opposed to the Security-related Laws said, “The Ministry of Education recognized the importance of political education to cope with the lowering of voting age to 18. But the Ministry treats high school students only as eligible voters. In fact, they are members of the sovereign people.” A high school student member of T-ns SOWL spoke from a sound truck, “We have to say no to wrong things. So, I will go on demonstration. The Ministry says that students must notify their schools of their political action. But, I have to say, high school students are also sovereign people.” (YUMOTO Masanori)

高校生も主権者だ！～T-ns SOWLが全国一斉高校生デモ

２月２１日、全国一斉高校生デモが全国１２か所で開催された（主催：T-ns SOWL）。東京は、渋谷区代々木公園からデモ行進が出発した。この取り組みには７８団体が賛同しているように、多くの支援が高校生たちに寄せられている。参加団体の一つ「安全保障関連法案に反対する学者の会」の佐藤学さんは、スピーチで語った。 「確かに文部科学省は、１８歳からの選挙権付与に伴う教育の重要性を認めました。しかし、文科省は 高校生を『有権者』としか表現していません。高校生は、子どもたちは主権者なのです」。そしてT-ns SOWLの高校生も宣伝カーから発言した。「まちがったことには、まちがったと言い続けなければいけません。だから、私はデモに行きます。文部科学省は、政治活動の学校への届け出制を認めました。しかし私は、言いたいです。高校生も主権者です」（湯本雅典）
