July 7, 2017 is the 80th
anniversary of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident that triggered Japan’s aggression
on China. While the Japanese Government did nothing to express remorse for its
aggression and apologize to the Chinese people, Japanese people held various
events to commemorate the incident. I participated in one of them, “80th
Anniversary of the Sino-Japanese War – People’s rally in front of the
Parliament”, which was held on July 8. On the previous night, there were
rallies for the commemoration near the Parliament, joined by 300 people in
total. UEMATSU Seiji, the organizer of the rallies, told us the purposes, “This
place where we are standing now used to be the location where there were the
Army Ministry and its Staff Headquarters, both of which played pivotal roles in
invasions during the Sino-Japanese War and World War II. Japan’s Imperial Army
invaded China and wide areas in the Asia Pacific Region, killing many innocent

7.7 盧溝橋事件・日中戦争80年～国会 前市民集会で不戦を誓う
盧溝橋事件80年を迎えた今年の7月 7日は日本の侵略を反省し、中国民衆に謝罪する行事が国家＝政府 によって何も行われない中で、市民たちの手で多彩な行事が開かれた。その一つの行事、7月8日（土）午後3時から国会正門前の道路
で開かれた「日中戦争80年 国会前市民集会」に参加した。前日夜も同じ日中戦争80年市民フォーラムが主催する参議院会館前と国会正門前集会が開かれ、延べ300名が参加した。この日の東京の気温は35度を超える猛暑であったが、およそ50名の市民が参加した。最初の呼びかけた日中戦争80年市民フォーラムの植松青児さんが集まりの目的を以下の集会宣言を朗読した。「私たちの立つこの場所、この一帯は、かつて侵略行為の中枢であった陸軍省と陸軍参謀本部があった場所です。80年前、正確にはそれ以前から大日本帝国の軍隊は、中国をはじめアジア太平洋地域の広範な地域に侵略し、多くの人の声明を奪い、多くの人の暮らしと人生を踏みにじりました。・・・」（高幣真公）
