Public opinion ignored: Grassroots groups’ emergency statement on the agreement to “Restart the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant”

(Statement)

Despite the fact that the nuclear disaster in Fukushima is far from being contained, the Kagoshima Prefectural Assembly accepted a petition to restart the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant, and the governor of the prefecture in the southern tip of the Kyushu Island, ITO Yuichiro, expressed his agreement to the restart on November 7, 2014. We strongly condemn the actions that are in defiance of the strong opposition to the restart of many Kagoshima residents, as shown in many objections expressed at briefings about the restart in some cities in the prefecture, signatures of more than 50% of residents of the neighboring Ichiki Kushikino City against the restart, and anti-nuke resolutions adopted in the surrounding local governments. The evacuation plan drawn up by the prefecture has no effect to protect the residents from exposure to radiation. It has not been decided at all even where to evacuate. In addition, some of temporary shelters and evacuation centers are located in tsunami danger zones in violation of the Disaster Countermeasure Basic Act that was revised last April. Thus, there is possibly no shelter for some residents in a case of emergency and, therefore, their safety is not guaranteed.

民意無視の暴挙～市民10団体が鹿児島県「川内原発再稼動」同意で緊急声明

本日11月7日、鹿児島県議会は川内原発再稼働賛成の陳情を可決し、伊藤知事も再稼働に同意を表明した。福島原発事故が収束の目途すら立たない中で、県内の住民説明会での反対意見、いちき串木野市での住民の過半数を超える署名、周辺自治体からの再稼働反対・廃炉決議等に示された、多くの県民の反対の声を踏みにじる行為に強く抗議する。避難計画は、実効性がなく、住民の被ばくを避けることはできない。要援護者の避難先さえ決まっていない。さらに、一時避難場所や避難所の一部は、津波等の危険区域に指定されたままであり、住民の安全を守ることはできず、4月に改正された災害対策基本法等に違反した状態のまま放置されている。重大事故時に、避難先がないという事態を招きかねず、住民の安全を守ることはできない。（声明より）

Youths’ protest against the Worker Dispatch Law to be made worse in front of the Diet: New group “BABL” formed

We BABL, which means Evil against Evil, are demanding society to change, which ignores and justifies problems faced by youths, such as evil companies, evil working conditions, difficult job-hunting situations and troublesome scholarships. Our group started from a protest over difficult job search in Tokyo in 2008, which spread to all around Japan later. There, students refused to have their lives distorted by the job-hunting system. However, they gradually found out that the problem was not a single issue, as a series of problems called “evil” began surfacing in Japanese society. Therefore, we formed a group “BABL” based on the protests to raise the issue of the cycle of “evil” and demand the society to change. 若者による派遣法改悪に反対する国会前抗議～新グループ「BABL」結成される！

私たち Black Against Black（通称BABL・バブル）は、ブラック企業・ブラックバイト、シュウカツ（就職活動をめぐる問題）や奨学金問題などの若者の労働を取り巻く問題と、そのような「ブラック問題」を黙認する社会の風潮の改善を求める「若者」集団です。私たちの活動の始まりには、2008年以降全国に広がった、いわゆる「就活デモ」と呼ばれる、学生たちによる就職活動をめぐる問題への抗議活動があります。そこでは学生たちは、自らが望む生き方が就活のシステムによって捻じ曲げられることを拒否していました。しかし、就活のシステムの問題は決して単一の問題ではないということが次第に明らかになりました。なぜなら、日本社会に「ブラック」と名のつく一連の問題が現れてきたからです。ブラック問題に気付いた私たちは、「ブラック」の連鎖という問題を社会に提起し、改善を訴えるため、就活デモを発展・拡大させて「BABL」を結成しました。私たちは自分たちの生活と権利を守るために、皆さんと連携しながら行動していきます。 （「BABL」サイトより） 

’Down with Abe Administration!’ ～People rally to stop Henoko base

 “Tatpirakase Abe Administration！Now is the time to stop the construction of Henoko base” was held at a center in Tokyo on Oct. 24.

 “Tatpirakase!” means “Down away with them!” in Okinawan language.

HOKAMA Mieko, a joint leader in Kanto block of the landowners who protest against wars by withholding a minuscule land in Okinawa, took out her whole heart in her address, saying, “ We can’t possibly be defeated.”

 NAKAMURA Zenkou, Nago city councilor and a bureau chief of conference against building a chopper base, reported about the current situation in Okinawa. He said with anger, “the government is destroying the sea and ruining fisheries.”

 He added that they wanted to make ONAGA Takeshi as governor with the support from “all Okinawa” for the gubernatorial election to be held on Nov. 16 and to stop building a new base, while he appealed for the support of the fight against Abe administration. (By OZAWA Kuniko) 

たっぴらかせ！安倍政権～辺野古新基地阻止大集会開かれる

10 月24日、東京の文京区民センターで「たっぴらかせ！安倍政権 今こそ止めよう！辺野 古新基地建設 10.24辺野古新基地阻止大集会」が行われました。「たっぴらかせ！」とは、「やっつけろ！」というような意味だとのこと。主催者あいさつで、沖縄・一 坪反戦 地主会関東ブロック共同代表の外間三枝子さんは「負けるわけにはいかない」と思いのたけをぶつけました。名護市議会議員でヘリ基地反対協議会事務局長の仲 村善幸さん（写真）が、沖縄の状況を報告してくれました。仲村さんは「政府は海をつぶすだけでなく、漁業を壊している」と怒っていました。そして、 11.16県知事選は「オール沖縄」で翁長（おなが）新知事を誕生させ、新基地を阻止していきたいと、安倍政権と対峙する沖縄の闘いへの支援を訴えまし た。（尾澤邦子）
