No day care center for our kids! This is the reality! – Protest in front of the parliament

A blog with a comment “No day care center for my kid! Down with Japan!” has drawn attention. YAMAO Shiori, a member of Japan’s lower house (House of Representatives) from the opposition Democratic Party of Japan, referred to the blog at a budget committee meeting of the house on February 29, 2016. Prime Minister ABE Shinzo responded, “As long as it is anonymous, it is impossible for me to confirm if it is true”. Other lower house members of the major party booed and jeered at her, saying, “Who wrote the blog?” and “Bring the blogger here”. Anger has spread rapidly against the arrogance. On March 5, 2016, approximately 50 persons, many of them carrying their babies, staged a protest action in front of the parliament. The organizer of the action (photo) said, “The booing and jeering made me mad. My children have already grown up, but I felt it was about me. People in my mother’s generation also had the same experience, so the difficult situation for women has not changed for 20 or 40 years at all. The lawmakers do not see the reality at all, so I decided to raise my voice”. Another woman, who recently failed to win a lottery to get into a day care center, said quietly but angrily, “There is only anger in my mind. What can I do? Nothing”. (M)

保育園落ちたの私だ！現実を知れ！～国会前で怒りのスタンディング

「保育園落ちた日本死ね！」と書かれたブログが話題になっている。2月29日の衆院予算委員会で、民主党の山尾志桜里議員が取り上げたが、安倍首相は「匿名である以上、実際に本当であるかどうかを、私は確かめようがない」と答えた。議員席からは「誰が（ブログを）書いたんだよ」「ちゃんと（書いた）本人を出せ」とヤジが飛んだ。これに対する怒りが急速に広がっている。3月5日午後、国会正門前には赤ちゃんを抱えた人など約50人が、抗議のスタンディングを行った。呼びかけた女性は語る（写真）。「あの国会のヤジでぶち切れた。私はすでに子育てを終わったがあれは私のことだ、と思った。母親の世代も同じ体験をしており、この国は20年、40年経ってもまったく同じ。議員たちは何も現実を見ていない。だから“私も当事者”と声を上げようと思った」。「保育園落選通知」をもらったばかりの女性は、「憤りしか感じなかった。どうしたらいいんだろう。何もやる気がなくなった」と静かに怒りを語っていた。（M）

“Abe, get out!” - Bulldozer Demonstration takes Shibuya by storm of anger

A bulldozer led the protest march against the nationalist administration of Prime Minister ABE Shinzo on August 2 in Shibuya, a shopping district in Tokyo. With the sign saying “This machine kills fascists” (written in English) on its back, the bulldozer caught  the eyes of surprised passers by on busy streets.  The demonstration was organized by Tokyo Democracy Network, the coalition of several civic groups including Drums of Protest, the regulars of protest actions. The drummers marched through Shibuya and Harajuku areas with other demonstrators chanting “Abe, get out!” and “Off the dirty hands from our constitution!” in the blazing sun.  Many of the marchers were smiling and playing musical instruments cheerfully, but signs, speeches and tense expressions they sometimes showed reflected their anger towards the administration cabinet  that approval of the use of collective self-defense right with re-interpretation of the constitution in July. People on the streets seemed to have appreciated the demonstration, many showing their support by waving to the marchers. The reporter was convinced that this demonstration of 3000 participants, according to the organizer, would accelerate the decline of approval rate of the Abe administration.  (By M)

渋谷を席巻した「怒りのブルドーザーデモ」～「安倍 やめろ」のコールやまず
 
8 月2日、炎天下の東京・渋谷の繁華街にブルドーザーが登場した。沿道の人たちもビッ クリだ。ブルドーザーには「この機械はファシストをやっつける」の英語 文字ポスターが貼られていた。主催は、東京デモクラシーネットワークで、「怒りのドラムデモ」はじめ様々なグループの連合体だ。デモ隊は、ドラムのリズム にあわせて「安倍やめろ！憲法こわすな！」のコールを続け、渋谷・原宿一帯を席巻した。音楽に乗せた楽しいデモだが、プラカード の訴えやマイクアピール、 人々の表情の中を見ていると、笑顔のなかにも「怒りと険しさ」があった。7月1日「集団的自衛権・ 解釈改憲」を強行した安倍政権に対する危機感だろう。デ モに対する沿道の反応はよく、手を振る姿が多く見られた。安倍政権への支持率低下を加速するブルドーザーデモとなった。参加者は3000人（主催者発表） だった。（M）

“Don't sell reactors to India nor elsewhere!” - Indian activist joins the anti-nukes protest at PM's Office

”Stop nukes, Abe! Or quit!” echoed the powerful voice of Misao Redwolf, a leading activist of the weekly demonstration in front of the Prime Minister's Office, to the rhythm of drums. On August 8, Kamar Sandaram, an activist from India, called for solidarity among citizens opposing to nukes in Japan and India, with a sign saying “Don't sell reactors to India or anywhere else in the world!” in Japanese. “Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Damodardas Modi is scheduled to visit Japan in the end of this month. He and Japanese Prime Minister, ABE Shinzo, are promoting the nuclear agreement between the two countries. Let us, the peoples of the two countries, promote solidarity between ourselves to stop the pro-nuclear moves by the governments,” he urged.  The activist of Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace was fresh back from the trip to Futaba-machi, Iidate-mura and a few other towns devastated by the disaster of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.  “I was surprised to see many evacuees living in the temporary settlement even three year after the disaster. If a nuclear accident happens in India, the situation would be much worse because the social security system is poor and the government is corrupt and unreliable,” he said.  (By M)

「インドにもどこにも原発を売るな！」～8.8 官邸前金曜行動

 
「安倍晋三は原発やめろ！やめられないならお前がやめろ！」。ドラムのリズムに乗せて、ミサオ・レッドウルフさんのドスの利いたコー ルが官邸前に響いた。この 日（8/8）の「再稼働反対！金曜行動」には、インドの反原発活動家スンダラム氏（写真）がやってきた。手には「インドにもどこにも原発を売るな！」のプ ラカード。スンダラム氏は、きのうまで福島の双葉町や飯舘村を回ってきたばかりだった。「原発事故から3年も経っているのに、未だに避難し仮設住宅に住ん でいる人々の実態を目の当たりにして驚いた。もし同じことがインドで起きたら、もっとひどい状態になるだろう。インドでは社会福祉も劣悪で政府が腐敗して いるからだ。8月末にはインドのモディ首相が来日し、安倍首相と日印原子 力協定を推進しようとしている。こうした動きを許さず、日印民衆はともにたたかお う」と呼びかけた。（M）
