Labor Minister Shiozaki’s “comments” disclosed – “Start small. Let it grow”: About “No overtime pay bill”

At a meeting with corporate managers, SHIOZAKI Yasuhisa, Japan’s Health, Labor and Welfare Minister, made a slip of the tongue about the bill, which is also called the “karoshi (death from overwork) promotion bill”. His remarks recorded in a tape were disclosed on the Internet on April 29, 2015 by a group of lawyers against evil companies. The remarks included “Start small”, “Let it grow” and “Simply start now while corporate executives are kindly requested to be patient at the moment” (Keidanren, or the Japan Business Federation, wants to lower the threshold of the annual income requirement of 10,750,000 yen for avoiding the payment for overtime). The minister excused at a Diet session, “I thought that businesspersons who said ‘Start small. Let it grow’ were very annoying”. 塩崎厚労相の「発言」データ公開！～残業代ゼロ法案「ぐっと我慢して頂いて、とりあえず通す」

「定額働かせ放題」「残業代ゼロ」を狙う「過労死促進法案」をめぐり、塩崎恭久厚生労働大臣（写真）が経営者の会合で、つい、本音の発言をしてしまった。この発言の録音データをブラック企業対策弁護団が入手し、4月29日にインターネット上で公開した。塩崎大臣は、「ものすごく（人数が）少ないところでスタートする」、「小さく生んで大きく育てる」、「とりあえず入っていく」、（経団連が1075万円の年収要件を下げると言っているが）「それはぐっと我慢して頂いてですね、まあとりあえず通す」などと発言している。大臣は国会答弁で、「むしろ、小さく生んで大きく育てると言っている経済界の方がおられるという ことは」、「非常に迷惑だなと思っていた」と弁明しているが、これが本当かどうかは、録音テープを聞いていただければわかるはずだ。（弁護士　指宿昭一）

Women’s Blood Boiling!—400 People Gather to Protest against Hashimoto Comment

The hall in the upper house was filled with people, later flooding out to the hallway. People were standing in the back, and those who could not enter the hall listened to presentations in the hallway. The protest action against Hashimoto’s comment on May 22 had about 400 angry people, more than 90 percent of whom were women. “We cann’t ever forgive him,” “He should resign right now,” “Hashimoto and Abe are the same” etc etc… anger never stopped. Some 235 groups raised their voice against Hashimoto’s repeated comments such as “comfort women were necessary” and “the US military should make good use of sex industry to relieve Marine’s sexual energy.” There were media organizations covering this event from Hong Kong and South Korea besides domestic media.
