The pioneer leading the movement of nuclear
phase-out, “Tampopo-sha (No Nukes Plaza)” held a special meeting in Tokyo on Aug. 31 to commemorate 25 years of
its foundation. The place with only 200 seats completely overflowed with
participants. The fact that most of the participants were women showed that
major players of the no-nuke movement are women. YANAGIDA Makoto, the co-representative
of Tampopo-sha, made a speech saying, “It is the power of ‘commitment to
continue’ that enabled us to carry on the movement for 25 years. Without any
recourse to public or private funds, it stays as an independent organization
operating only with the membership fees and donations. Before March 11, our demonstrations
were limited with only around 20 participants, but our campaigns have expanded
now to the scale of tens of thousands. Let’s address two issues, supporting and
not forgetting Fukushima and not allowing restart of nuclear power plants. Let’s
open the era of de-nuclear power.” HIROSE Takashi and Arthur BINARD made speeches
interesting and easy to understand, which not only described the fear of
nuclear but also provided a hint to expand the future movement. (M)

脱原発へ持続する志～大盛況だった「たんぽぽ舎 25周年のつどい」
脱 原発運動の老舗「たんぽぽ舎」が結成25年を迎え、8月31日、東京・全水道会館で「25周年のつどい」が開催された。200人ほどの会場に続々と市民が 詰めかけ、完全に溢れてパンク状態だった。圧倒的に女性が多く、脱原発運動の主役が女性であることを物語っていた。たんぽぽ舎共同代表の柳田真さんは 「25年やれたのは“持続する志”の力。どこからも金をもらわず会費とカンパでやってきた自立した集団だった。3.11前は20人位のデモしか出来なかっ た。しかしいまは、万単位の運動に広がった。福島を忘れず寄り添うこと、再稼働を絶対止めること、この2つ課題に取り組み、脱原発の時代を切り開こう」と 訴えた。記念講演には、広瀬隆さんとアーサー・ビナードさんが立った。わかりやすく面白い話は、核の怖さを伝えるだけでなく、これからの運動拡大にヒント を与えるものだった。（M）
