Tokyo gubernatorial election should discuss relocation of Tsukiji Fish Market

 An event to appeal to the Tokyo gubernatorial election candidates to discuss relocation of Tsukiji Fish Market was held on July 20. One of the candidates,  UTSUNOMIYA ,Kenji who dropped out of the race stopped by and said, “I dropped out of the race because Mr. Torigoe agreed to take on one of my proposed policies, which is to suspend relocation of the fish market. I totally support this idea. I pay respect to all of you who have continued to struggle with this issue. I will continue monitoring the Tokyo assembly even after the governor is elected.”

 “Toyosu, the relocation site, is not fit to house a fish market. There should be a Tokyo government run manga cafe,” an architect criticized. A mothers group also made a statement, “This is about food and safety. We strongly urge the new governor to take this as serious issue.” The Tsukiji market is to shut down on Nov. 1. (by Johnny H)

題』を争点化せよ！都庁前アクション」が開催され た。別の集会

に向かう途中だった宇都宮健児さんがマイクをと り、「鳥越さん

は私が取り組む政策に賛同したので、私は立候補 を取りやめた。

特に築地市場の閉鎖は中止にし再検討するという 考えには、全く

その通りだと言った。この問題にずっと取り組ん できたみなさん

には敬意を表し、また新都知事決定後も都議会の 監視を続けてい

く」とエールを送った。建築の専門家の人は 「豊 洲は市場の目的

の設計になっていない。都立漫画喫茶にした方が いい」と厳しい

発言。ママさんたちのグループは 「食の問題なの で、都知事にな

Let’s make a change from Tokyo to stop Prime Minister Abe’s arrogance: Kickoff meeting for Utsunomiya

UTSUNOMIYA Kenji (photo) energetically appealed, “The Nago mayoral election on January 19, 2014 and the Tokyo gubernatorial one on February 4 are crucial for Japan’s future. It’s time for us to make a change from Tokyo to stop Prime Minister Abe’s arrogance. We are never powerless”. The “Kickoff meeting for Utsunomiya for a new Tokyo” was held at the Toshima Kokaido Hall in central Tokyo on January 8, 2014 and filled with 1,200 participants. MAGOSAKI Ukeru, a critic, enthusiastically said, “Japan is really on the brink of war. The people are facing many negative and dangerous things, such as the restarts of nuclear power plants, TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership), Secrecy Protection Act, change of the Worker Dispatching Act for the worse, and increase in the consumption tax. In particular, nuclear power plants are about to be restarted. Only Utsunomiya can send strong messages against such moves. I would like to totally support him”. (M)

テーマカラーの紺のネクタイ姿で登場した宇都宮けんじさん（写真）は、元気いっぱいに演説した。「1月19日の名護市長選と2月9日の都知事選は、日本の未来を決める選挙。安倍暴走を止めるために東京から変えていこう。私たちは微力だが無力ではない」。1月8日夜、東京・豊島公会堂で開かれた「宇都宮けんじとともに東京都を変えていくキックオフ集会」には、会場あふれる1200人が集まり、終始熱気に包まれた。評論家の孫崎享さんは、「日本は戦争前夜のような大変な時代になってきた。原発・TPP・秘密法・派遣法・消費税、中でも原発は再稼働寸前だ。こうした問題にきちんと強力なメッセージを出せるのは宇都宮さんしかいない。全面的に応援したい」と熱く語った。（M）

“No More Karoshi! Ryu Foundation” award ceremony – With 130 people

The “No More Karoshi! Ryu Foundation” held the 4th Ceremony of the Nakajima Tomio Award in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo on August 1, 2010. The foundation gave the Nakajima Award of this year to Teranishi Emiko, who filed suit against the Japanese government for the disclosure of names of companies whose employees have died from overwork (President of the National Association for Bereaved Families of Karoshi Victims, center in the photo. Karoshi: Death from overwork). The venue was filled with 130 people partly thanks to a commemorative speech by Utsunomiya Kenji, the president of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations and the Anti-Poverty Campaign. Before the start of the award ceremony, all the participants offered a silent prayer to the photos of Nakajima Tomio, who was husband of Nakajima Haruka (right in the photo of this report), the president of the Ryu Foundation, and died from karoshi in 2004 when he was a store manager of Skylark, a family restaurant chain, and of Maesawa Takayuki, who was a son of Maesawa Emiko (left), the vice president of the foundation, and also died from karoshi in 2007 when he was a contract store manager of the same restaurant chain. 「過労死をなくそう！龍基金」授賞式を開催～130人が集う
「過労死をなくそう！龍基金」は8月1日、第4回中島富雄賞授賞式を東京・葛飾で開催し、過労死を出した企業名の公表を求めて国を提訴した原告の寺西笑子さん（全国過労死を考える家族の会代表・写真中央）を今年の中島賞の受賞者として表彰しました。日本弁護士連合会の会長で反貧困ネットワーク代表である宇都宮健児弁護士の記念講演もあり、会場には満員の130人が集まりました。授賞式の冒頭、龍基金の代表である中島晴香さん（右）の夫で、すかいらーくの店長として2004年に過労死で亡くなった中島富雄さんと、副代表の前澤笑美子さん（左）の長男で、すかいらーくの契約店長として2007年に過労死で亡くなった前澤隆之さんの遺影に向かって参加者全員で黙とうをささげました。（須田光照）
