70 years since A-bomb; ‘The Hiroshima Panels’ to be sent to US ~request for support and donation~

Six out of 15 panels of “the Hiroshima Panels,” painted by MARUKI Iri and Toshi, will be displayed in American University in Washington DC, from June to August 2015. There is not enough time left to realize Hibakusha’s strong wishes to abolish nuclear weapons in their lifetime. When nuclear powers have made no progress toward elimination of nuclear weapons, 125 counties issued a joint statement with the aim to achieve a nuclear-free world, focusing on their brutality and inhumanity. The Japanese government joined the statement for the first time.
So as to embody the movement of Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference next spring, many Hibakusha are to visit the United States and appeal to the public. The university will bear the expenses in the U.S., but we have to pay 10 million yen, including the transfer cost. We believe that we can share Japanese people’s wishes to abolish all nuclear with their counterparts in the U.S. by collecting donations, and so we are starting the donation campaign.  (The Hiroshima Panels, Maruki Gallery)
