Fast-food Global Day of Action in Tokyo “A 1500 Yen minimum wage of is common sense!”

A Global Day of Action demanding a higher minimum hourly wage for fast-food workers was held on April 15^th. 50 people raised their voices in Shibuya, Tokyo, “A 1500 Yen minimum wage of is common sense!” This worldwide campaign started from the US to raise the hourly wages of fast-food workers and improve their working conditions, stopping the race to the bottom intensified by price competition. This year fast-food workers, labor unions, and labor NGOs in 100 cities in 40 countries stood up for wage increases and unionization. In the Tokyo action, activists in McDonald's costumes drew the attention of passersby, including overseas tourists. The action also called for an end to over work. (MATSUMOTO Chie)

渋谷でアピール「時給1500円が常識だ」～ファストフード世界同時アクション
 

 時 給１５００円を求めて世界一斉行動がおこなわれた４月１５日、東京・渋谷のセンター街でも、およそ５０人が「時給１５００円が常識だ」と訴えた。低賃金労 働の象徴とされているファストフード労働の時給をあげ、価格競争とともに激化する底辺への競争ではなく、底上げをしようと、全米から広がった世界同時アク ション。今年は約４０カ国１００都市で、ファストフード労働者や労働組合、NGOなどが賃上げや組合結成をもとめて行動を起こす。渋谷では、ドナルド・マ クドナルドのコスプレが通行人の関心を集め、海外からの観光客にもアピールした。世界に先行して行動した日本では、「時給１５００円」とともに「働きすぎ はやめよう」とも訴えた。（松元ちえ）
