Supreme Court rules out reprimand for refusing to stand for Kimigayo

 My name is NEZU Kimiko, who was reprimanded for not standing up for national anthem, “Kimigayo,” by Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education. This is big news!

 The Supreme Court dismissed the Tokyo education board’s appeal of the Tokyo high court’s decision, which rejected 6-month suspension of Nezu and granted a 100,000 -yen compensation for each of the two plaintiffs on May 28 last year. The Tokyo education board appealed to the supreme court, but as of May 31 the court rejected the appeal on unanimous vote.

 I am so grateful for the decision. I never expected to hear the victorious ruling in my lifetime. I want to thank all of you who supported our struggle. (By NEZU Kimiko)

「君が代」処分取り消しのビックニュース～最高裁が 「都教委のやりすぎ」に歯止め

「君 が代」不起立で東京都教委から処分され続けた根津公子です。「君が代」処分取り消しのビックニュースです！ 昨年5月28日、東京高裁（須 藤典明裁判長）は2007年「君が代」不起立停職6月処分取り消しと損害賠償を求めた事件で、根津・停職6月処分の取り消し と河原井さん・根津の損賠（各10万円）を認める判決を出しました。敗訴した都は、根津・停職6月処分と2人の損賠につ いて、上告及び上告受理申し立てを していましたが、最高裁第3小法廷 は、5月31日付 で都の「上告を棄却」し、「上告審として受理しない」ことを「裁判官全員一致の意見で決定した」との 「決定」を出しました。本当にうれしいです。昨年の須藤判決が出されたときにも思いましたが、生きているうちに、しかもこんなに早くに勝訴判決を手にする とは思いもしなかったことです。勝訴判決を手にできたのは、大勢の方が支援して下さったおかげです。皆さん、ありがとうございま した。（根津公子） 報告・時事通信・渡部通信　＊ 写真＝高裁勝訴を喜ぶ根津さんと河原井さん（2015.4.28）

What is behind the “Tokyo Olympic Games”? – Wartime-like “National unity”

On January 14, 2016, discussions were held about what to do in “education on the Tokyo Olympic Games” at a regular meeting of the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education. The education includes the “involvement of families and communities through children”, participation in “volunteer (in reality, forced) activities”, and the creation of a sense of “pride as Japanese”. These are exactly the same as what happened 70 or 80 years ago during World War II into which all Japanese people were mobilized in the name of national unity. These are to materialize the dispatch of students to battlefields. This kind of thing quietly proceeds without knowledge of the people. We cannot be silent. We have to speak out. However, none of the education board members seemed to notice the danger. The unionization rate of schoolteachers is low now, but I want respective teachers’ unions to discuss this issue. 「東京オリンピック教育」の怖い中身～戦時下と似てきた「挙国一致」

1月14日の東京都教育委員会定例会では、「東京オリンピック教育」の内容と取り組みについての報告があった。オリンピック教育が掲げる、「子どもを通じて家庭・地域を巻き込む」、「ボランティア活動」への参加（強制）、「日本人としての誇り」、これらは挙国一致の戦時下国民総動員体制づくりではないか。70～80年前と同じではないか。「教え子を戦場に送る」教育の具体化だ。こうしたことは、人々に気づかれないうちに、静かに進行するのだ。黙っていてはいけない、声をあげなくては。なのに、教育委員の誰一人、それを感じ取った様子はなかった。今、教職員組合の組織率は低いけれど、各教組にはこの問題を取り上げ動いてほしいと思う。（根津公子の都教委傍聴記）

Issue of the removal of“Barefoot Gen” from schools ~ without serious discussions at Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education

Because Tokyo education board was to discuss the petition for the removal of “Barefoot Gen” from schools on Jan. 9, 26 people wanted to sit in on the regular meeting. Six had to give up since there were not enough seats. I, too, drew a blank, but my friend offered me his seat, saying “You will write an observer’s report.” I’d like to thank him for that.

“When someone plays obstructionist, I will order him/her out from here. I will take a legislative action,” The chairperson said again at the beginning of the meeting. “During the previous meeting, I heard a man shout when leaving. That is also an obstructive behavior.” The proceeding is getting worse as the board tries to kick out observers more and more every time. On this day, three petitions were submitted requesting the removal of “Barefoot Gen” from schools, while nine petitions asked to maintain “free access to the book.” In the end, Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education decided that it “cannot accept any of these petitions. I was relieved that the petition for “the removal” was not adopted.

「はだしのゲン」の「教育現場からの撤去」問題～都教委まともな議論なく

「は だしのゲン」の「教育現場からの撤去」を求める請願が議案になっていたことから、今日（1月9日都教委定例会）の傍聴希望者は、定員20名のところに26 人、6人が傍聴できなかった。私も抽選に外れだったが、「傍聴記を書くんだろう」とFさんがご自分の当たり券を譲ってくださった（感謝）。木村委員長は今 日も冒頭、「議事進行を妨害した場合は退場を命じる。法的措置をとる」と言い、さらに、「前回、退場の際に大声を上げたことがあった。これも妨害行為であ る」と付け加えた。傍聴者を排除する議事運営はますますエスカレートする。「はだしのゲン」の「教育現場からの撤去」を求める請願は3件、「自由閲覧の維 持」を求める請願は９件出されており、その回答を決定する議案だった。両請願とも都教委は「応じることはできません」との回答を決定した。「撤去」を求め る請願が採択されなくて、よかったのではあるが・・・。（根津公子）
