The grief and anger have not faded yet. Visiting the sites of the Nanjing Massacre

I visited China from December 10^th to 15^th, as a member of a tour group to make a vow to never fight with China. The main purpose of the tour was to attend the memorial service for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre on December 13^th. In the evening, there was a candle vigil at the Memorial Hall. There were many attendants, including pupils and students, youths in military uniforms and Buddhists from many countries. Among them was an old woman in her nineties, with a candle in her hands, looking sternly ahead. She was one of the survivors of the massacre. When I saw her strong beaming eyes, the 78 years of time disappeared in me.

 The TV news on that day and the following day featured the memorial for the incident; the memorial services held in various places, the interviews of the survivors, and silent prayers and honking horns. The grief and anger of the Chinese people have not faded yet. (SASAKI Yumi).

悲しみと怒りは消えていない～南京大虐殺の現場を訪ねて
12月10日から15日まで、日中労働情報フォーラムが企画する「日中不再戦の誓いの旅」に参加した。主な目的は、12月13日に行われる南京大虐殺犠牲者追悼式典参加と史跡などを訪ねることだった。13日の夜は、記念館で追悼のキャンドルナイトが開催された。小学生、中高生、軍服を着た若者たち、市民、それに各国の仏教者たちがいた。その中でひときわ脚光を浴びたのは、虐殺を生きのびた幸存者の女性。もう90歳は超えているかに見えるがしっかりとキャンドルを持ち、厳しい表情で前方を見続けていた（写真）。強く射る様な彼女の瞳を見たとき、南京事件から78年の歳月はわたしの中で消滅した。当日と翌朝のTV は、虐殺記念日を特集的に伝えていた。市内各所で行われた慰霊祭、幸存者の話、定刻にいっせいに街中で行われた黙祷、それと合わせて鳴り響くクラクショ ン。悲しみと怒りは消えていない。（佐々木有美） 報告・動画（太平門虐殺事件 5分）　＊写真＝幸存者の楊翠英さん
