Report from Paris : Counter-forum against COP21 opens~Watch video of police brutality on Nov. 29

[Please spread] 2.7million views!
--- the video of police beating people who are left behind in Paris on Nov. 29 ---
We can clearly see that the “mob” is the police itself and what is wrong is the emergency declaration.
It’s touching to see that young people are holding hands, joining shoulders and guarding their colleagues with kisses, songs and their bodies! From today (Dec. 5), we are holding a display at our booth and a meeting at the popular forum against COP21 at Montreuil in Paris. There, we will be making an appeal to the world leaders and citizens, displaying panels of the disaster caused by Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant and banners with pictures. Please watch closely. On Dec.10, connecting Paris and Tokyo, we will hold an event named, “Emergency Declaration - Paris/Tokyo : capitalism, climate change, colonialism and terrorism,” at “Café Lavanderia” in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Protesters never went violent; Hollande, ban on demonstration are to blame

We arrived at Le Republique around 11:40 on Nov. 29 for a protest against COP 21, ban on demonstration and the anti-terrorism summit and made an appeal together with Koreans and Japanese who are involved in Anti-nuke World Social Forum (photos). “Abe and Park should go home!” “We need no nuclear power plants or nuclear weapons,” we spoke at the plaza, which drew a lot of attention. The Japan-France summit was scheduled that day, when the Japanese Prime Minister ABE Shinzo would make an appearance to declare the war on terror. We must protest his arrival! Gathered at the plaza were people involved in an action against climate change, protection of indigenous people’s rights, solidarity movement with the Palestine and anarchists. Riot police blocked the street, but the protesters sought to break the barricade. More people joined after a human chain.

Seven-Eleven receives corporate rasberry award for labor exploitation

The major convenience store chain, Seven-Eleven Japan, was presented the fourth annual grand prize for Corporate Rasberry Award at a Tokyo reception, which was held on Nov. 29. The company has exploited owners of franchisees, which leads to exploitation of young workers. A moving company, Hikkoshisha Kanto, received two awards, while Akatsuki Sangyo, which sells fire prevention equipment, received a special award, and a cram-school chain Meiko Network Japan was donned a troublesome part-time job award. Seven-Eleven franchisees and a union member at the moving company spoke about labor exploitation and the right violation. esolving the Japanese Imperial Army’s “comfort women” issue〜Yun Mihyan speaks about Korean association for women’s volunteer corps

Yun Mihyan (photo), the association’s representative, spoke about years of the group’s activities at YMCA in Tokyo on No. 22.
Because “there are people who believe the association is anti-Japanese,” she was asked to talk about the roles of the association, which she became involved in 1990. She reports on her work with the group in details on her facebook; taking actions with former “comfort women” at the United Nations, EU or the US, visiting the victims across the nation on weekends, giving lectures for students and taking part in the Wednesday demo. She describes the scenes with photos. Even so, asking her “what she has done,” I personally thought, lacked complete respect to her. (By OZAWA Kuniko)

Anti-nuke activist from India makes appeals at Friday demo

The day after the protest against the war law, which drew 9,000 people to the Diet, a routine Friday demo against nuclear energy took place on Nov. 20, again, drawing rows of people--some from India, Fukushima and Aomori.
What was noticeable was a protest speech from an Indian activist, Kumar Sundaram (photo), on Japan’s Prime Minister Abe is trying to sell nuclear technology to India. “Japan and India are ready to sign the nuclear treaty in December when Abe visits India,” he spoke in fluent Japanese. “Please oppose this treaty.” Abe is staging “a society where everyone participates” and became Obama’s “Yes man,” while big businesses are traveling around the world to make nuclear plants and weapons deals. The banners on this day spoke of people’s opposition to any of it. (By KINOSHITA Masaaki)

9,000 gather at the Diet in protest against the war law

Two months after the war legislation was forced passed on Nov. 19, about 9,000 people surrounded the Diet with the determination never to give up. A retired teacher raised a hand-made flag reading, “Peace,” and said, “I’m seriously concerned with the state of our incumbent government.” INOUE Tetsuji of the Japan Communist Party told the crowd the five opposition parties had a second meeting, while TERUYA Kantoku of the Social Democratic Party of Japan reported on the Henoko protest. “The war law and Henoko new base construction are two issues of the same problem,” he said. One of the organizers of the protest, TAKADA Ken, told the protesters the importance of a signatory of 20 million people demanding abolishment of the war law. “This is our commitment in support of opposition coalition in order to drag down the government at the next upper house election.

SEALDs never stop!—Shinjuku protest against new base in Henoko

After watching the TV news on terrorist attacks in Paris that killed more than 120 people on Nov. 14, I went out to a protest action against the new base in Henoko, which was organized by SEALDs. It seems that the world is being dragged into a quagmire. The U.S., U.K., Russia, France and other countries launched airstrikes against the Islamist State (the monster they created), they will suffer retaliation with suicide bombings or machine guns....violence perpetuates. Japan is ready to jump into war economy after it passed the war legislation. We have turned onto a dangerous path. Amidst this situation, HONDA Nobukazu began emceeing a protest action around 2:40 p.m. at Shinjuku Station. Lawmakers-- AKAMINE Seiken, ITOKAZU Keiko, both of Okinawa—spoke about how the government is pushing to build the base despite Okinawa’s public opinion. NAKAGAWA Takashi of Soul Flower Union appeared as a special guest and sang three songs that mention Henoko. (By KINOSHITA Masaaki)

I don’t want to regret it! –TOMIYAMA Masaki talks about his son in SDF

Tomiyama stood for 90 minutes in front of the Diet on Nov. 11 before he appeared on Labornet TV, making an appeal to lawmakers with banners that read, “Do not dishonor Self-Defense Forces for forcing them to violate Article 99 (obligation to respect the constitution)(See photo). The shiatsu masseuse from Fukuoka City conveyed anger of the SDF members who will be forced to execute collective defense against the constitution. NIIKURA Hiroshi, a peace activist in Yokosuka, talked about the survey he and his group conducted. There were 7,300 SDF members who refused to sign the oath when people were transferred from the security forces to SDF. They refused because they “did not join SDF to fight in wars.”  He said the government needs to renew the swearing-in of the SDF members, while pointing out how the government has failed to do so with a single SDF member. Asked what he discussed with his son, Tomiyama said, “I tried to talk to him, but he said nothing. It may be easier for them if they let the military do the thinking.” (By M)

Fukushima teachers’ union reveals problems facing young teachers, temps

Ahead of the workshop for young teachers and temporary teachers hosted by of Fukushima Prefectural Teachers’ Union Youth Division in Koriyama City on Nov. 7 and 8, the youth leader, OSHIBE Kaori revealed the results of the survey conducted by the youth division.
To the question, “do you think it’s possible to continue working as you do until the retirement age?” 32% said it’s possible, while 38% said they don’t think it’s possible and the rest said they didn’t know. Oshibe said the teachers are too busy working to improve education level and after-school club activities.

Friday demo demand decommissioning of Monju, never restart Ikata nuclear plant

On Nov. 6, the routine Friday demonstration began. It was a nice sunny day, which drew more people to the demonstration near the Diet building. I first stopped by the METI tent, whose appeal of the lower court ruling was dismissed by the Tokyo high court just 10 days ago. But the tent was still standing, with the banner that reads, “We won’t let them take away our tent.” I also saw the surveillance camera that METI set up. The sign at the tent read, “1518 days.”
Many people at the Friday demo spoke about Monju fast breeder reactor and its decommissioning. Of all the people, FUJINO Yasufumi, Japan Communist Party member, explained very well, “The nuclear regulatory agency is only saying the management should be replaced. It never suggested decommissioning of Monju. The business itself is wrong.” (By KINOSHITA Masaaki)
